I've only been to Best Stop, maybe a dozen times, and I'm happy with the all around experience from smoked sausage, fresh sausage, boudin, cracklins, customer service, etc.

I stopped at Billy's one time but there was a line out the door. I heard it moves fast, but I simply got in my car and went to Best Stop.

I have had Don's boudin at festivals and it's pretty darned tasty, although I've yet to check out their retail store.

The best smoked sausage I have ever had has been the deer sausage I get made in Texas. I have a few extra packs and with deer season approaching I will give out a few packs to anyone in the BR area this week.

A must get at the best stop is the andouille. It' may be the best thing they make. It's a little pricey, but it is well worth it. Next time I go home I have to restock the freezer for gumbo weather with their andouille and Tasso.

They also make some fresh brisket sausage that ain't gross either.

Several years ago they went through a bad time and put out bad product. Over the past few years though they seem to be putting out better overall product.

Don's was great we had the little location in carencro and we he first opened in Scott. They have went to shite. I don't even go there anymore. Billy's is good and I actually enjoy his smoked sausage, but frick that line. I can go into best stop and be out in 10 min or less if I want and they have it all. Boudin, smoked sausage, andouille, Tasso etc...

Best Stop had gone downhill. Their boudin was wildly inconsistent from one visit to the next. Need to give them another shot, they were always my go-to for years.

The aforementioned ribeye sausage is the bomb, but I hate passing up the pepper jack egg rolls at Billy's, so I usually brave the line. Their other products are good too.
