Do you say the relationship between you and the other parents should be cordial at best? Or is that even necessary?

if you have a daugher, show them your gun, sledgehammer, and ax and tell them about all the marksman awards you've won in your life.

if you have a son, buy him rubbers

My parents didn't meet the parents of anyone I was dating until I was in college.

You need to mount the girl's father to mark your territory.

Trashy parents generally raise trashy kids. I guess it really only matters if you care about who they're dating.

Be cordial enough that it is okay to pick up the phone if there is a need to, but you don't have to be best friends.

In a related item, this reminded me how much my mom hates my mother in law.

This. Teens fall in and out of love often, plus I was from a small town (everyone knew everyone) and my parents raised me right and trusted my judgement.

Only necessary when you are trusting them to make sure their sons dick doesn't end up inside your daughter, or son.

Might want to do this if you have a daughter as well. One of my go to lines in my earlier years was, "I don't have a condom, baby. I'll pull out."

I'm sure this varies on the size of the town or school where the kids are dating. You may already know them or at least know who they are.

If the relationship isn't really serious and you trust your kid then it may not be necessary to meet the other parents. Once they start wanting to stay out late or hangout at each other's homes then you probably need to talk with the parents about boundaries and expectations.

6 foot broadsword. Sharpening that thing gave my daughters boyfriends nightmares. I think the delight I'd take in chopping them into bits with it got their attention.

Arkansas Board question.

I would never condone or allow my teens to date each other.
