Any tips on prepping garlic, onions, and Brussels sprouts to go in the crawfish boil?
Also, do you just dump them in with the corn when you start soaking?

Quarter onions, cut the tops off the garlic, throw them in when you season the pot, throw sprouts in a at soak.i prefer frozen BS.

If you plan to eat the onions leave them whole or cut one of the ends off. Otherwise, they will completely break down in the boil.

Nah. I halve them and they're fine. They're actually one of most favorite parts of a boil.

Try sweet potatoes. Slice 1 1/2" sections.

for garlic, lemon, onions, I cut in halves and boil for 10 minutes before adding crawfish. for shrooms, I add at soak, along with frozen kern.
I don't do brussel sprouts in my boil. I'm straight.

i do pearl onions instead of the big onions (preference)
I use lemon juice versus cutting up a ton of lemons
garlic, potatoes, shrooms, corn, sausage, people request BS so i do put them in there but I prefer green beans or asparagus instead
If it was just me.. I am good with garlic, potatoes, and shrooms

Cheese cloth and/or boiling sacks make everything a lot easier.

Why use a cheesecloth when you can use a crawfish sack baw?

I just cut the garlic pod in half. Quarter the onions. Cut some or all of brussel sprouts in half.
I usually put these veggies in before or with the crawfish when I add them to the boil. I throw most of the fragile veggies in when I kill the heat.

I don't see the point of quartering the onions. If you throw them in whole early, they don't fall apart. Quartered onions end up going everywhere.

Because I prep the veg way before and when I boil I have to accommodate a bunch of women. They want potatoes, corn, onion, garlic, asparagus, green beans, maybe artichokes if available.
I swear I spend more on vegetables than I do crawfish. And cheese cloth is cheap and doesn't smell like a dirty diaper, unlike crawfish sacks.

Unless you put them in cheese cloth.

You must not be from Gueydan. Everybody in Gueydan puts cheese in the pot.
