Where I live it is more of a upper middle class "keeping up with the Jones" type thing.

And excluded by law against any HOA restrictions. Had a legal battle in my neighborhood over this.

I think they are a great idea, especially after $400 plus electric bills this summer.

After this weekend you won't have to worry about it. An hour less sunlight means those hippies have to pay for light just like the rest of us.

So are coal plants, oil refineries, uranium mines, and most every other energy source. Windmills look kind of cool, but they can be loud. Pick your poison.

I have solar panels because the state and federal incentive to get them was incredible. Only a moron wouldn't have gotten them considering they will pay for themselves in savings within 4-5 years. That's not a company pitch inflated number. I've had mine for over a year, and I estimate based on current savings that it'll take a total of 4-5 years to pay themselves off.

Last, I have never been mistaken for anything even resembling a hippie. For this slight to my character, you must be dealt with. Pistols at dawn tomorrow on the front lawn of the old state Capitol. Get your affairs in order.

I'm no hippie and I think they look okay. Some on RVs look bad but it's mostly bc of the RVs.

There's a house on Paris Avenue in NOLA that literally has it's entire roof covered in solar panels. It's looks incredibly stupid, but I bet his Entergy bill looks nice.

True but retarded. Sure they don't look awesome, but they don't lower property values. Never see a Section 8 place with them. It's such a waste not to have solar panels everywhere, esp in places like Texas.

They have solar shingles now that blend in better. Must not be as efficient, or we would hear more about them.

I think that the technology will get to a point where practically unnoticeable solar cells will be on all sorts of surfaces of homes, cars, bridges, billboards, etc. generating juice.
