We have played well on D this year overall. We seem to give up a lot of wide open passes, busted plays. It also seems like we give a lot of cushion to the receivers. Is this a scheme issue with coach Steele? Is it part coach Raymonds fault? Or is it the players? It seems like this year we are playing way more zone than usual.

D Line this year is a thousand times better then last year
Steele has done an amazing job with the LB group.
Secondary seems a little lost this year at times.

Yep. Not too sure why we keep having huge lapses in secondary. It will cost us in bama game. They always seem notorious for finding the lapses and getting big plays

Opposing teams throw the ball on us more times than all but a handful of defenses in the country and yet we're still middle-of-the-pack in terms of passing yards per game.

Hell, Brandon Doughty threw 62 FREAKIN' times and barely cracked 300 yards.

It's a symptom of playing every game with a sizable lead.

They threw the ball 60 times. Theyre bound to complete some of them

Because they don't know their zones and responsibilities on any given play.

Steele plays more Z than Chavis and they're having to think too much now, instead of just playing football.

Somebody tell Mr.Steele that this isn't Stanford. Go back to more "Man" and make it easier to play. Bama will eat them up with all the confusion..................

I would guess either the call coming in too late or just overall poor understanding of zone assignments against certain looks. Could be OC's figuring out which looks are causing the problems and calling accordingly. It's not happening a ton, but when it does it's a big play.

They actually played a ton of man coverage last night

I agree. When you are bigger, faster, and stronger than most teams, I'd love to see some press coverage with 1 safety over the top.

Secondary is frequently confused. Wide open receivers that trot into the EZ. Every game. Looks bad.

I love how our fans are just ready for this team to lose. Every week something is going to cost this team, yet here they are sitting in the top 4 poised for the play offs.

Yea we all just want LSU to lose. Grow a pair dude. It's a simple statement. Bama is good. They will capatalize if we make huge mistakes. It's a pretty simple concept

Just a thought, but is it possible Alabama has noticed how many times we get burned by that same wheel route?
Nah....

How much is Steele and how much is Raymond? Shouldn't he be feeling some heat over this?

and LSU won't? Bamas offense isn't that good. Coker likes to turn the ball over. But yeah only LSU makes mistakes. get bama's pair out your mouth.

The blown coverages are annoying... But fixable. It's not like we are outmanned or outgunned and just can't stop a WR. It's mental errors that are hurting us and you can fix that.

Plus, we were without our top CB in Tre White who is an elite college CB. And Jalen Mills is just getting his game legs back and in a grove and is the QB of our D and makes the checks and all that. He's the smartest player on our D. You take out Jefferson and Thomas / Paris and add in a healthy Tre White and Jalen Mills, and those mental errors will go away pretty quickly.
