hate the thought of it breaking and putting me into the 4K LCD market. It would be a downgrade.
Why not just buy the OLED that are on the market ?

The 4k videos on YouTube looks absolutely amazing even on my 27" 2560x1440 monitor.
I don't get why people say you can't tell the difference on anything less than 40-50" screens. There is definitely a difference.
The view distance issue was covered, but I wanted to add that Youtube's 4K videos tend to look better than native 1440P on your monitor because you're forcing a higher bitrate. Youtube videos are highly compressed, so a 1440P video isn't true 1440P and isn't going to yield pixel perfect quality. Switching to 4K quality tells Youtube to stream more data, and the downsampled video helps hide the compression artifacts. I find the difference between 1440p and 4k streams on my 1440P monitor is subtle and even varies video to video.

Too expensive, too immature, vignetting in recent models, plus they're all curved AFAIK. However, I did recently read somewhere that LG is removing its head from its Korean arse and will be producing flat OLEDs again. I expect it'll be a real option perhaps in 2019. These 4K sets have to run their course first.

I understand sound bars are weak, but they seem practical and easy. Mainly affordable. If you have another method that is affordable and easy to set up I am very open. I don't think I want to spend hundreds on a system. I just want better speakers than the current ones on these ultra thin tvs now.

They do have some flat ones with 4K resolution
65EF9500
55EF9600
I still wouldn't buy a LG display

Right. Those were the ones I was talking about. They're not yet released. And everything I said earlier may still apply. The "too expensive" part certainly does.

I got the 55 4k UHD and the Netflix shows are amazing. We paid 1500 at best buy.

I have the 65" Curved Samsung 6700 model and the picture is awesome, upscaling makes some regular HD stations look great and as mentioned go to you tube. You have to have connection of at least 24 mbps to stream it though. I love the TV so far and if my wife dont complain after a 2400.00 dollar purchase its a win for me
