How long before the teams start asking for less pre season games?

With the season ending injuries that are happening, when will teams start asking for less pre season? I always thought they should cut the pre season down to 2 games. No need for 4. Let your starters compete for 2 quaters total and then let your players fighting for spots play the rest, make the grades on players and go to the regular season. Nothing I hate to see more than these injuries in games that dont mean any more than a practice does...

Jordy Nelson's injury yesterday happened in the second preseason game. Yes, having fewer preseason games can lessen the chance of injury but injuries could happen even on the first preseason game.

The fourth preseason game is always a waste of time for everyone.

Injuries happen. Starters don't play much in the 4 game preseason. If you went to two games, they'd probably play the same amount.

What a 2 game season would do is limit the amount of time the young guys get.

And it won't happen.

Goodell won't budge. If anything, he'll keep 4 preseason games and expand the playoffs or add 2 more games for a 18 game regular season.

Where does it end though? Injuries happen in training camp too, should there be less training camp?

I'm all for cutting down a preseason game or two if it means more regular season games.

Some of them have been asking for this for a few years and the players tried to get it reduced with the last CBA. In regards to the season ending injuries, a few have happened in TC & OTAs, so you really can't point to that. And, as someone else pointed out, this injury occurred in the 2nd preseason game.

If you want to blame something for these injuries other than the fact that they play a physical sport where injuries will occur, you should actually blame the players and their union. Many of the injuries we are seeing are because of conditioning. This has been getting worse every year since they limited practices, eliminated 2 a days, and reduced full contact practices. So, if you add cutting the preseason in half; then you may actually introduce even more injuries into the game. Less games/practices will not provide a better product on the field, and I do not believe it will result in less injuries. The only difference is you will see some of these injuries taking place during the beginning of the season.

They used to play 6 pre-season games I believe.

But I think the limiting of contact has something to do with this. Conditioning and repetitions are down, which contribute to a lot of injuries.

Just cover all NFL players in bubble wrap after the Super Bowl and hope for the best.

Season-ticket holders have been begging for it for even longer.

Having to purchase tickets to two meaningless pre-season games in addition to the eight regular season home games amounts to a 25% surcharge on all season-tickets.

It infuriates me and has for years.
