Was looking to just try it on my own, but I've come up short the last 2 times i've tried. So anyone have advice on a charter service? Prices all range between 400-450 that i've found online. 2 adults, one kid.

What is the limit on flounders over there?

never seen anyone offering charters to do that...I'd bet it is a damn blast...

I've found 4 or 5 charters offering. My concern is i've heard that if the moon is out your chances of gigging decreases significantly. So really hoping I can call ahead to get some good advice if they think its worthwhile. Otherwise I'll just plan a day trip.

I used captain Josh Arscott previously, not sure if he is still running trips, he only takes 2 ppl.
They'll shoot you straight, their repeat business depends on it.

very cool...I find that guides are pretty honest about when the best time is to go, as they want you to catch fish and have a good time or they know you won't be back. I have actually had them call and talk me out of a trip that I had booked because fishing had not been good enough....

What you want to know about it? I do it often in west bay. If conditions are decent, I've never struck out.

gigging out of a boat beats the shite out of wading.
I've never gigged out a boat before but I've never had an issue walking in ankle deep water. I've used a boat to get to the flounder spot though.

Nightstalker Guide Service
This one is in Rockport. A little ways from Galvestion, but I've heard good things.

Marlo, how much you charge? Really just looking for someone to show me how it's done.

Save the money. You can get some bad arse underwater light for your boat to gig with. Either led's or some big bulb like sodium lights running on a gennie. I run a trolling motor for mine, have a bad arse boutwell gig with 4 titanium threaded prongs. They don't come off. Haven't been at all this year, but I will soon. In regards to a full moon, that isn't as big a concern as tides. I like to start at the end of an incoming tide and work the shoreline as the tide falls.

Go on 2coolfishing and do a search or start a thread like this over there. You should be able to get all the help you need including instructions on building a badass light. Look up smackdaddy's thread for the light build instructions. oznium.com is the site everyone uses to get the LED's to build the lights.
