I recommend .308.
An AR-10 is perfect for attempts at multiple kills on pigs.
If you want a deer rifle too, I'd stick with .308 and get a bolt action.
Budget Rifle. Savage axis
But, I'd recommend a smarter investment and spend a little more.
Look at TC Venture. Has a 1" guarantee at 100 yards.
My top choice is the Tikka T3 in .308.
You could start with a cheap scope and improve the glass over time. The Tikka and Venture will both shoot better than you can for years to come. Smart investment there.
