If so how many people would just say screw it
I'm done!
I can't imagine they would want to give away that audience because you could very well lose some demographics.

They make enough money already

No. Sun will burn out before SB goes PPV.

Couple it with a subscription to NFL Network for $9.99 and I'm in!

Jerry Jones' hookers and party buses aren't free.

I guess they will get their money from the networks either way which will be passed on to the subscribers in higher bill.

nope, The NFL would have to go to a full PPV package as networks won't offer as much without getting super bowl broadcasts. the NFL would then need to spend the money to advertise their own games, they'd also have to spend money on the resources of setting up a large motherfricking network of broadcast teams, etc...and to do so would be a commitment that they couldn't turn back from...so if the fans don't pony up for PPV, they'd be screwed.
it would be such a change in their business model, they'd be 100% promised to lose fans during the transition.

Not as long as the major networks exist. You get more households through them which will always be more $$$
But I could see them adding a ppv for like 9 bucks for mobile devices and computers along with the National broadcast

plus you get the same result with way less hassle and infrastructure
why do more work for the same or less money? Plus they're annual costs would skyrocket

I'm usually sick of football by the time the Super Bowl rolls around.
Unless it was the Saints or a matchup I was interested in (this year is an example of a matchup I could care less about), there's no way I'd pay a penny to watch it

I watched it online last night on NBCSports.com

Would be the worst decision in the history of television in terms of the foreseeable future

No, a huge part of what makes the ratings so big for the superbowl is the casual fan/ woman who doesnt give a damn about football but wants to see the commercials and halftime show. Those people wont pay for the game if it went to PPV.

If you didn't like this match up I don't know which one you would like.

I remember hearing years ago, that when Robert Kraft decided not to move the Patriots to Connecticut that ensured the Super Bowl would stay on broadcast TV. A pay-per-view Super Bowl would have happened if Los Angeles and Boston didn't have NFL franchises -- the national advertisers would have been turned off by the fact that two of the five or 10 largest TV markets didn't have teams.
The fact that the Super Bowl continues to set ratings records probably means it won't go pay per view for a while.

Well, Obama is always looking for new ways to obtain tax money for more programs, so who knows?
