Are their insiders saying if/when he even interviewed for the job?

Didn't really say, just that "contact was made", whatever that means.

I'm just not buying the interest in him at the NFL level as legit.

The interest is very legit, it's just a question of if the niner brass wants to actually pull the trigger or not. As I mentioned, there is hesitation bc of his scorched earth history. If not for that, he'd probably already have the job.

He should stop recruiting if he's going to that mess.

Caught the SanFran beat writer on ESPN yesterday & he said part of the problem with this hire happening is that the new HC is a PR disaster, apparently not a public speaker, has never even been a coordinator, etc. Had a horrible public speaking gig last wk & embarrassed himself/organization. As a result, it's the head office who will be involved in any further coaching hires & this does not speak well for LK as noted in previous posts. If Saban wanted him gone, he's gone, If LK wanted to go, he'd go. Forget loyalty when it comes to either of these 2.

oh... I can think of one big time example in which he failed tremendously.

In Kiffin's defense (not much but it's something), Kiffin did want Calvin Johnson and Davis overruled him.

Saban's remarks today on whether Lane Kiffin will be back next year....this doesn't sound like a coach who is sure he is returning.

"I can't say that right now because I know Lane is committed to us right now and he's doing the best he can to help recruit and do the things we need to do to have a better team next year. We're hopeful that will continue"

San Fran won't offer him. At the end of the day, they pass IMO.

Why should it?

Passing that frequently against an OSU D that was committed to stopping Cooper was the clearest example of him either A) overthinking it, B) being outcoached, or C) both.

You forgot

D) Listening to his boss who was "anxious to see Bama take more shots down field. And felt as if they didn't do it enough early on in the first half."

I keep reading all the post blaming Kiffin for not running the ball, but clearly it wasn't his sole decision.

Post Game with Saban.

"Q. Coach, were they doing anything defensively that prevented you guys from handing the ball to Yeldon and Henry more and also were you surprised at how well their quarterback, Jones, was able to handle his composure and the way he played at all?

COACH SABAN: Well, you know, I think defensively they did pretty much exactly what we thought they would do. They played bump-and-run and played split safeties, we call that cover seven. We had ways to attack it.

I was kind of anxious to see us take more shots down the field. I don’t think we, maybe, did that enough early in the game. And they did a nice job. But we did a little better job in the second half when we went no huddle, we played faster and did better, and I think there’s obviously a lot of things that we wish we would have done differently to attack their defense."

The #Colts are blocking offensive assistant Rob Chudzinski from all of his interview requests. They want to keep him, he helps immensely

Hmm... I wonder what this means for Kiffin.

Didn't know you could do that, honestly.

Neither did I. Apparently the organization can block all coaching moves except for a promotion to a head coaching job.

Could you imagine if that were true in college?

"Hey, Nick, can we interview Kiffin about this OC position?"
"Kiss my arse."

Be prepared to be disappointed, he has no loyalty and this is a step up. Maybe not this job but he'll dump Bama in a heartbeat.

SF starting LBs will be back, healed. So they will not need to score big to win.

with their record, they will not be playing all the #1's and #2s. Could jump to 12-4 and host a first round game.

If SF actually gets back to the Super Bowl, and OC is perceived to have made the difference for Kap, he will get to pick his next HC job, after just one year as OC SF.

I didn't either until a couple of days ago...I guess you can if they're still under contract. The Falcons had blocked other teams from interviewing Mike Tice (OL coach) and Armstrong (Special Teams coach). Tice went to the Falcons and said he'd like to move on to the Raiders and then the Falcons gave their consent...at least from what I read any way...

Chud's contract is up in a week so it just means this may drag out a little longer.

FWIW, most Niner fans are VERY anti- Kiffin, which, knowing how much ownership hates their fan base, probably means he will be the hire.

I wouldn't work under that nobody head coach the 9ers hired. But that's just me.

Well in the 49ers structure, Baalke is really your boss.
