Guy I went to highschool with has been trapping coyotes in area where people report problems. This is a beautiful coyote. Too bad they cause so much trouble.

That's really nice for a southern dog if indeed he was trapped down here. I have friends in Iowa that trap and cure the pelts for market, and those animals have much nicer fur. Very much like this one.

I have killed some magnums this year. I have not seen a deer at my duck lease this year, which is unheard of, but the coyotes are running everywhere and are large.

Great pics. I've never been that close to a live one. Do they pretty much try and stand their ground in a trap or do they get scared and try to get away?

They stay pretty aggressive. He catches dogs from time to time and they are just laying around chillin until he releases them. They seem to know they are trapped and just accept it. Coyotes fight until the end.

Have a couple dozen traps dying right now. Going to start hitting them hard this weekend I think. Beautiful yote, ready to catch some.

If you know the right way to skin and cure the pelts there is pretty good money to be had. There may not be enough if these prime dogs down south to make it worth your while. When the weather is right the boys up north make a killing on coyotes, fox and other fur bearers, but make no mistake it is work.

This year very few will make much on fur. Prices are down. A few places out west will make a killing but most will take it on the chin this year.

Coyotes colored like the first one pictured make money. As they transition to a bit more red they might as well just be ditch material.
