Will Ryno return to pre-injury form?

I dont know much about the injury. But from what I've heard on here and in the few articles that I've read, it's similar to Peyton Manning's injury. I know that almost made him retire and it's looking like it will make him retire earlier than he would've had that injury not happened.
So I guess I'm wondering if the injury may still prevent ryno from ever returning, and if it doesn't, will he be his old self again? The fact that he is younger than Peyton is positive I guess. But not playing/shooting for that long of a time has to be tough to come back from. Add in the fact that this injury may make him even less athletic than he was and that makes me nervous we wont get the old ryno that we had.
I'm not trying to be negative. I'm just wondering if my concerns are warranted. It seems like people on here just assume he will be his old self again. But I dont like getting my hopes up when a neck injury is involved.

From what I've read Manning's 1st surgery was successful and then he had a set back and required a 2nd surgery. I don't think anyone knows for sure, but the expectation is he'll be back to normal unless he has a set back. Basically it can probably go wrong at anytime just like the original injury, but you just can't predict it. FWIW he tweeted this a few days ago.

Doing real well bud! It is healing nicely “@WillTheMaster1: @ryananderson33 how are you doing since your injury?, good great better?”

That's good to hear. I'm holding my breath that there aren't any setbacks and that his youth helps him recover better than Manning. I just hate it being up in the air with so many unknowns

Hope so. Hes a vital part to our team. But, anything with a back / neck is tricky.

Even if he turned into a peja, clutch shot kinda guy, with that contract, I'M IN!

They're doing great things with neck surgeries these days. He will likely have issues later in life and may retire a couple years earlier than originally planned but with work and time he should do well. He's a lot younger than Manning which helps.

Ryno should have a full recovery from this surgery. I don't think that Manning is a good comparison for his recovery. Manning plays football in which he takes approximately 30 big hits a season, where as in basketball you may take 5 hits like that all year. Second, Manning throws a tonof passes each year. Overhead throwing is one of the most stressful activities you can perform with your arm. Shooting a ball is not nearly as stressful, nor does it require the overall strength and conditioning of throwing. Third, from what we have heard, most of Ryno's symptoms have been pain related. Manning's symptoms also included significant motor neuron damage that was effecting his strength and ability to throw. Finally, Manning has had multiple procedures done on his neck and this is Ryno's first procedure. Research shows that success following surgery, especially when it comes to high level function, decreases with each subsequent procedure. This is what makes Manning's season last year so incredible.
