Have not been there in years and had lunch there yesterday. Frenchie is a trip, boy talks to himself all day with strange words of infinite wisdom.

How long has he been there? He was entertaining as hell.

Around twenty five maybe a few more years, Popeye disappeared that long ago to avoid a nice bit of jail time.

I always assumed that was Louie. He looks like a Louie.

Louie has been dead about thirty years, and he was a far greater character than Frenchie, the image is Jimmy Weatherford the owner.

It was the middle of the day nobody else was really in there but he was having the time of his life. Certainly made me do a little self reflecting

He's a trip, and fun to talk to, but the guy is a bad arse short order cook. Dude can crank some food out of there when they're slammed with a line in the parking lot.

I am probably one of the few on Tigerdroppings that ever knew Louie. Used to eat breakfast and lunch there several times a week. He was a hoot and also had 2 beautiful daughters. I miss the old guy. Also knew Joe Lippin at the Pastime. How many of you can relate? Geaux tigers.

Not that old, never knew him. Never even saw the original location, which in the photo looked more like a 'breakfast place' IMO. I guess it reminded me of broken egg when I saw that picture on the wall when I was in school.

I didn't know Louie but a friend rented an apartment on State St from him. The man had some hatred for some people that never lessened over time. Hubert Humphrey(VP under LBJ) borrowed five from him in the mid forties and skipped town, his picture was on the west wall of the place for forever.

I first met Frenchie when he was head chef at the old ramada inn on Nicholson near the pastimes, late 80's. Not too long after That he did a stint with Stephanie, pre Zealand st mkt. when that building was Marinos a tiny ag c- store. Stephanie got her start on her own there. Old man Marino built here a tiny 12 by 12 spot on the front corner where she did take out only. It's was after she left Louie's where she got her start cooking, that's where she met frenchie.

I am one more who knew Louie. His food was much better than the stuff his namesake restaurant cranks out today
