A family member will be making a trip to San Antonio next week and offered to bring back some beer. I recently posted a thread about beers to bring back from MS and got some really good recs (thanks again Coater)from the FBD crew. Only breweries I'm familiar with are Southern Star and St. Arnold and those are available here. What say you FBD crew?

I've had a few beers from Freetail Brewing Company that were pretty good.

They're a brew pub, so I think they'll only be able to buy bottles at the pub.

I forgot them... you can buy their stuff other places than the pub itself in TX.

Lost Gold IPA
Devils Backbone Belgian Tripel
Four Squared Blonde Ale...but it taste like an IPA.

They have a Brewers Cut series but I haven't been impressed with any of them.

Have you tried Live Oak Heffe? I'm not a heffe fan but that Live Oak is good.

Have not. But I love them this time of year. I'll try this weekend.

I love the icon bc it is perfectly hopped. I'm not big on IPAs but this is a hefe that has extra hops and is great.

I don't think they bottle yet. Live Oak is an Austin brewery so it would be on tap in SA I'm sure.

Go to Freetail for some pizza and beer, then drive another exit or two down 1604 to Gabriel's liquor.

Freetail sells a few bottles on-site. Soul Doubt IPA is in bottles right now and it's pretty good. They also have guest beers on tap that are usually locals like Live Oak, (512) and Branchline.

Gabriel's has one of the best selections in SA...

Jester King hasn't released a lot of good stuff lately because they're holding out to open the cellar once they receive brewpub status.

I don't think Karbach bottles have made it to SA yet, but I may be wrong.

If these are available...Rogness, Hops and Grain, Deep Ellum, Independence(Convict Hill), Lakewood

Terrapin
Sweetwater(i'm not the biggest fan, but a lot of people love them)
Bell's
Bruery
Smuttynose
Allagash
...I'm sure I'm forgetting something

If you get a chance, go to Hop City or Green's Liquor.

Just getting in from job #2. Thanks to those that have responded in this thread

So, looks like Jester King, Real Ale, & Rogness are some of the better breweries available in the SA area. IPA's are my favorite style, especially given the climate this time of year. I will def check out the Lost Gold and Four Squared Blonde Ale.
