Did a search and found a thread from 2008, but it only had one response. Thinking about getting my real estate license, but I'm not sure if one of these schools is better than the other. I will be doing the online class, and Bob Brooks is a little more expensive, but he claims that his class provides audio and power point explanations rather than just words on a page that you have to read and study. From what I have heard, and what I can review on his website, it appears that Burk Baker is just that, words on a page, but he seems to be the more popular choice. Has anyone had any experience with either of these and can maybe give some advice one way or another. TIA

Just curious. Are you making real estate your career or just something on the side?

Kinda depends. On the side at first, but if it becomes what I hope it can, then a career. Why do you ask?

I went to Bob Brooks in 2003. He is funny and arrogant but I learned what I needed for the test. Passed on my first try.

I remember he had test simulators that you could practice on. Those were very helpful.

I have no clue about Burk Baker.

Oh and most of the material you learn for the test you will never use!

The information you will learn for the test ranges from Louisiana civil law, to licensing law, and rules and regulations of the Real Estate Commission. After you obtain your license you will have 180 days to complete the post licensing course work, which is more of the practical day to day things.

I used Burk Baker, but I know several agents who used brooks. Baker is a trip, but honestly they aren't going to be that different. The license is a good learning experience, whether you are doing it full time or not.
