Karr and O.P. Walker are both located in Algiers and both have had an insane amount of talent recently.

John Ehret/West Jefferson are also large schools on the West Bank but very few of their students have signed Div 1 scholarships.

Are kids moving to Algiers to attend Karr and O.P. Walker?

Are they just better schools than Ehret, etc. and are better at getting their students to qualify?

Anyone have any good insight?

Karr and OP Walker are both charter schools that can pull kids from anywhere in Orleans parish. Though some people will tell you that Karr pulls from beyond that as well.

one of the schools is a magnet school & kids come across the river to attend - they are in orleans parish.
west jefferson is in jefferson parish & since katrina is getting kids that used to live in the city & moved across the river

West Bank Jefferson Parish gets divided up by Ehret, West Jeff, Higgins, Helen Cox, and Shaw. Cox just became a high school and has taken a chunk of the geography, so its hard for those teams to have success like they did in the past and have a good supporting cast for their "studs" to put up huge numbers.

Ehret has put out a fair number of high end talent that has gone to LSU.. Chris Mitchell, Drake Nevis, Lamin Barrow, and possibly Darrel Williams. The depth is lacking compared to Karr though for sure

Ah, I didn't know they were charter schools.

So, do the coaches have a say in who gets in?

My brother teaches at Karr. He is not an LSU grad like I am, but obviously is a fan because of me. He teaches some of these kids. You're all welcome.

You can take shaw out of there because they are a private catholic school even though they are on the westbank they can pull from anywhere

No it won't. Landry will be absorbed into it. They will be using Landry's campus. Karr may be moving to OP Walker's campus while their new one is built.

Many kids in Jefferson parish go to belle chasse and just lie about their address because it is the best public school on the West Bank

Ehret and West Jeff in the past have produced many many D1 and NFL players.

Problems lately is flight of kids to other schools and grade requirements for JP public schools.

In fact... for a long time Ehret and WJ were top producers..
