Expiration dates were invented by companies so they would sell more products.

Really so they would be protected against blood-sucking tick lawyers. Fiance' works for a big food company and he said a lot of the canned/boxed/preservative-type food on the shelves will stay good for years. But they have to have an expiration or they will get sued if someone eats a bad batch.
