My freeze plug on the back of the motor broke. I have no idea where to start looking for a good jeep mechanic that will do this right. I'm pretty certain the motor will have to be jacked up. I'm expecting to have to empty my pockets for labor. Any help is appreciated.

All Star in DS has a good service department but they would probably bend you over the counter before you walked out.

If it is at the back of the engine, that is dropping the tranie. Major job. If it rusted out, even more problems.

Don't call there unless it was you that one the lottery. I used to work there and the markup on stuff was typically close to 100% and service prices were $150/hr back then.

It is a wrangler tj '98.

My cousin built it and he said the same thing about lowering the tranny or loosening the motor mounts and pulling it up. Def a major job.

Bump fir any other suggestions.

Only call if you have extra money to buy parts with. Do not let them touch your jeep.

Another for Phil at Searcher's. Lightline wanted ~$600 to install my front and rear driveshafts.

A wise man once told me "the only reason a man should own a Jeep is if that man likes working on Jeeps."

Give Terry a call. 667-4111 . He's in Walker but worth the drive if it's driveable at all.

And another recommendation to call Phil. He's a good guy. Went by there yesterday and he's pretty busy, though. He'll at least refer ya to somebody good.
