I just watched the entire game and here are my thoughts:

-Jack Taylor is NOT good. He couldnt play at ANY D1 school. You can find a kid like him on any playground court in the country. Average speed, white, about 5"10 tall and just heaves threes...and for every one he made he missed more than two. Really the only thing special about him was his endurance and that his coach let him heave so many terrible shots.

-The Larson kid on the other team had 70 points but ALL 70 were uncontested layups from cherry picking or breakdowns in the zone.

-I counted 20 Grinnell players vs 10 Faith Baptist. When a team presses and runs a fast break the ENTIRE game these numbers matter.

- Lastly there was not ONE dunk the entire game and half of the shots were uncontested layups! Any DECENT HS hoops team would beat Grinnell in a blow out.

I remember all the hype leading up to ESPN showing one of their games and then watching them play. They lost and didn't even score all that many points. It was quite the letdown.

the coach didn't pull him every other minute and let him stay in the game

The coach for Grinnell does this every year. He picks one guy a game and that guy will do 90 percent of the shooting. Grinnell had a guy score 88 points in a game last year and last night that same player only had 7 points.

Was there any fricking defense at all in this game?

So I guess this proves basketball really isn't a team sport.

Not bad either. But it tells me that the "game" was just two teams alternating layup drills while the "defense" stood around to watch.

What I don't get is how the opponent allows this to happen. At halftime how was no one like, "Hey coach this guy just dropped 58 on us.. Maybe we should defend him a little differently in the second half."

Seriously.

I might lose a game, but I would never lose a game with some little fricker dropping 138 points on my team.
