Is it time for Saints to abandon the 4-3 Defensive scheme and switch to the 3-4. Its been painfully obvious that our front four (any combination) can not get any pressure on the QB. Maybe we should make the switch and get better use out of Wilson/Cassilias and they can rush the edge. Possibly drop Martez in coverage and blitz Harper on occasions......or something........we just need a change of philosophy .

Why not? It's not like the defense can get any worse.

Im sure people will tell you that we dont have the players to do it. But right now we don't have the players to run ANY respectable defense.

We don't have the linebackers for a 4-3, much less a 4-3.

I personally think it is easier to find guys to play a 3-4 these days. There are quite a few more OLB rush guys than there are stud pass rushing 4-3 ends IMO. Also a lot easier to find a big fat arse to park in the middle than legit DTs.

The only piece we are missing is a HUGE nose tackle

Smith Ellis/Bunkley Jordan

Casillias Hawthorne Lofton Shanle/Tez?

Greer P Rob

Malcolm and Harper

I think we could pull it off. Nothing else has worked worth a shite

Ellis?

If they wanted to do this now would be the best opportunity to switch.

its pretty obvious these guys havent even figured out how to play this defense yet. I dont think throwing an entirely new scheme at them is going to help.

Ellis is nowhere near big enough to play NT

No

Harper: SIT
Shanle: SIT
Wilson: START
Hicks: START

Wilson is the most athletic defensive player on the team, he should be on the field a majority of the time.

Bunkley would be our NT.

He got his deal with us because of the work he did in Denver's 3-4 as a NT.
