I'd venture to say LSU is way ahead of USC, for now. Never know what will happen if he visits but until something changes, LSU is the overwhelming favorite. The Texas visit is just him vetting all the options. Any Texas fan that comes out of this visit thinking they're legit players at this point, is getting way ahead of themselves. Most Texas folks realize they have a huge uphill climb. The catch for LSU is Simmons. If we slowplay him, it could hurt with Paris. We may get put in a take or leave situation. I say take.

I'm just impressed that we got him on campus. From what the 24/7 guys reported, I got the sense that there was a lot of negative recruiting against Texas and the visit today changed their opinions of Mack and Texas. I'm not saying that we're a major player yet, but it's something to keep an eye on, especially since there's been chatter of Ed committing to y'all in the coming weeks.

Texas is a hard school to go up against in recruiting for any high schooler in the country, no less kids from Texas. I think LSU gets both Paris and Simmons in the end but I will never count out Texas til the ink is dry on the paper. No doubt yall can make up ground but I hope & think LSU wins out in the end. I think Voorhies sticks and if Prevot stays with USC I think Hardeman sticks as well. I worry about Hootie Jones with bama but I think being able to play at a school that puts out top DBs that is in your back yard and is about to sign a good friend in Diarse will keep Hootie in Baton Rouge. My main worries or Tony Brown and Nick Harvey. I'd love both and think it's a possibility but I'd be just fine with one of the two. My guess would be Brown. But with Brown, Hootie, and Hardeman at corner and Paris, Simmons, and Voorhies at safety that would be great. But I'd love to pull Harvey as well and have Voorhies on offense where I'd think he be a great fit

I agree, Jlock. This was just the 1st step in a long uphill climb IMO. I'm just glad the coaching staff isn't throwing in the towel with such a big prospect in our backyard. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I believe he will be in P&G when all is said and done. I will add that when he was asked if the reports were accurate that he was a heavy LSU lean, he said they were not accurate and he is wide open.

Ed Paris is not a heavy lean to LSU, but the Tigers definitely have a slight edge. I've spoken to Ed several times and he told me personally about USCw,this was last summer before their team made that strong run in the playoffs. The asst. head coach (Coach Kincade) is someone I know personally.

..and I just don't see him going anywhere else, but that's just an uneducated guess. I wonder if he has a girlfriend we can recruit?

Thanks for the info.

Horn-From my conversations with Ed, he does still love Louisiana, last year when I asked him his favorite team growing up he said USCw, but La. is home, and everytime I see him, I wear the Purple and Gold. LOL

This is a kid we can get. His favorite NFL player is PP21 and Mathieu in college. I enjoy where we are.

Hard to think he would go anywhere just based on previous interviews. Never know until they sign the dotted line.

I haven't talked to Paris as TeamLSU has and I'm not doubting what he says. What I am doing is saying there is a reason every major recruiting analyst in the country(and all the major Texas recruiting gurus) say Paris is a major LSU lean. It isn't all guesswork. The kid has always said he is wide open and yet still everyone says he's a LSU lean. What these kids say publically isn't always what the truth is. In fact it usually isn't. We may not land Paris, who knows what can happen in the next 18 months, but at this point, we lead and pretty significantly. Some think Bama is 2nd currently. Regardless, it'll take a recruitment of monumental proportions for Texas to get him.

lsufanva-No problem with what you are saying. I agree with you in that he is LSU to lose, but his second choice is USCw, not Bama. No matter what you hear on the blogs, according to my conversations with him Bama is 3rd. His top three hasn't changed since I have met him last year.

Thanks for passing information along. Would he like to play with Simmons?

CaptainCrown-I would say that Paris and Simmons are very very close, would they like to play together yes, but it will not be a deal breaker. Ed is a great kid, and I will be wearing the purple and gold at his games as I will attend a few of them this year. Also along with seeing Ronald play with the Tigers. LOL

Well of course. Why else wouldn't a kid be interested in Texas unless negative recruiting was taking place?

Tigerbait-I would be a major surprise if Ed Paris signs with anyone other than LSU. As the season goes along I will keep the board updated with Ed.

Spoke with Ed Paris today via phone, he said that he is looking forward to his upcoming season, I asked him how far do he thinks they will go, his response was, if they can stay away from injuries they should go far in the playoffs. I told him to reserve me a seat at Jerry World like last year for their run.

I asked him about his and Simmons offer from LSU and he is very very excited about the offer. He did enjoy his visit to Texas but it wasn't the WOW factor as LSU. TIFWIW

DeSean Smith also claimed to be wide open and looking at other schools. Then after he comitted he said he was never going anywhere but LSU. I think these kids say what they think people want to hear. In the end most have their minds made up way before they comitt.
