This is not great news, I get it. But what’s with all you taking this so damn hard?

Net-net, this will be a wash this year at worst (I still love the Saints’ chances this year), and possibly a net-positive:

Coaching staff: I love SP. He brought the attitude and game plan to the Saints. We need him as a coach long term. But his system (or “process” ala lil Nicky) is in place. Do you not think Drew knows it as well as he does? Do you not think Drew can run the offense as well calling his own plays? Of course you do.

Players: OK, we could really lose a couple of big players due to suspension. That could hurt. Let’s see how that plays out. But the players would be off of defense. Our D has been average, at best during this incredible run. If we can’t outscore the other team (see Drew above), we’re screwed anyway. When people talk about the Saints, its not b/c of our stout D.

Attitude: Here’s the intangible. Could the team fold? Yes. But with leaders like Drew, I doubt it. In fact, I expect this to be a motivator. Big time. They may now have that same fire in the belly they had when they won it all. Last year they had the talent, but not the desire. Now with the ‘us versus the league’ attitude, I think this team has something to prove. We now have a villan/arch nemesis to defeat (RG).

Finally, should the league look at every other team? Yes. Will not, probably not. But guess what, life’s not fair. Get over it, because I’m sure the professional players have.

Oh, Drew is locked down. He's not going anywhere now. As much of a competitor as he is, he wants this challenge. He wants to be the first team to play for a SB in its own stadium.

This team will rock this year. Book it and calm down, Sally (you know who you are).

We'll be fine. It'll be even better when we end up with a better record than the Cowboys.

I'm with you. I just don't see much of a "drop-off", if any. As long as #9 is the QB, I'm not worried. If it was Brees being suspended for a year, instead of Payton, then there might be a little problem. I think this is a 10 win team (minimum) if they can get some of the defensive issues worked out. Give me the all-world QB over a great head coach any day. Jim Caldwell agrees.

You're right. That's present tense. The SKY HAS FELL. Fify

This will kill the Saints. Refs will be quick to flag us. We lose players and management and coaches and the sky isn't falling? You are right. It has fell!

+1. The Saints have lost one player on offense.
One....Meachem. And we may replace him with a FA, draft, or trade WR. We replaced Nicks with someone maybe just as good - Grubbs.
If we lose a lot of defensive players on defense, we may have to make some trades or try to sign a lot of FA defensive players. But it may actually work out in our FAVOR if we can sign some gems.

I think signing Dunbar and the ATL LB is vital.
We just signed Bunkley yesterday. Let's keep it going !
We already have the best offense and one of the best special teams, let's work on D now !!!!!!

These were my exact thoughts yesterday. Let's remember we have Spags, he used to be a head coach. Carmichael calls 75% of the offensive plays anyway. And most importantly we have Drew Brees. I would not be surprised if we didnt make the playoffs, but I wouldnt be surprised if we won the whole fricking thing next year either
