2 minute boat ride from Mexican waters
This is not a political or social statement on my part. But, whoever is caught illegally setting gill nets should be subject to sinking by US Coast Guard or US Navy.
The article states that over-fishing in Mexican waters has caused repeated incidents of Mexican fisherman setting illegal nets in US waters.

You think 3000 sharks killed is high? Louisiana's pogie fishery kills that many every month from the seine nets in our waters.
