Does anyone know of a descent Mexican place on the Westbank? The only place I know of is Chevy's on Manhattan and it's only so so.

Do you mean Tex-Mex, or taquerias?

Good place. It's technically El Salvadoran, though.

El Mexicano

No frills Mexican cooked/served by real Mexicans. Nary a lick of English spoken in the place

For authentic, try Taqueria Jalisco, on Terry Pkwy. It's in the shopping center next to the middle eastern food market (and a Subway, and where Drive Side daquiris used to be).

For tex-mex, there's a Cucos in the shopping center at the corner of Lapalco and Belle Chasse Hwy. Unfortunately, they're not as good as they used to be, but they're still much better than Chevy's.
