Are you traveling by air? Most EU countries have an entry protocol that your airline will email to you. Spain has a mildly crappy app. You upload a copy of your vax cert and a few other details like flight info. They give you a barcode which you scan upon arrival. That's it.

I went to Ireland after the EU certificate started. I simply showed my CDC vaccine card picture on my phone and got into every bar and restaurant I went to. It was actually looked at about half the time. The other half of the time they just glanced at it. My daughter lives in Dublin and said the latest thing is that Ireland customs officials will give me a EU certificate upon airport clearance but that is still fuzzy. I will find out again when I go back in February.

You have to go to a pharmacist in certain countries like Germany and see if they will scan your cdc card and give you a QR to download to CovPass. Other countries are different.

Most places will take your cdc card.

Everywhere I went in Germany and Austria just looked at my CDC card and let me in. I actually usually got through quicker than the people with the app on their phones.

France had an online application and sent a QR code before you arrived. They changed rules about vaccinations and certificates on 11/1, so I don’t think they do it anymore. Different countries have different requirements.

Was recently in Milan for a week and a CDC vaccination card was worthless (besides being required to enter the country).

You have to show a Green Pass to dine indoors, go to museums, concerts, etc….

To obtain a Green Pass you have to:

1. Be fully vaccinated but the US CDC card did not allow us to get the Green Pass

Or

Take a Covid test and be negative. This option is only valid for 2-3 days so you have to repeat testing once it expires.

It was stupid our vaccination cards did not give us access to a Green Pass but we just scheduled appointments at the pharmacy every couple of days and got tested. Inconvenient but was pretty easy.

Just got one today. Internal page has your vaccine information. Tour Company helped us. Usually a pharmacy or doctor would have to. Required all over Germany now. You present card and they scan it to let you in.

I’m not sure about those countries. Because of the Covid rates in Germany that’s why they just switched to it yesterday. I’ve spent daily research on each countries embassy site that I went to to try to learn the latest. At least here I will say they are very serious about having it. It took me about 10 minutes from the restaurant last night trying to explain why we didn’t have one. The cruise company had our passport and vaccine cards but I had a image of both and showed it to him. He wasn’t clear on why US citizens didn’t have one. The guy took us in eventually but he was very nervous clearly. Even asked for cash after dinner.

Out of curiosity, why does the cruise company have possession of your passport?

They took our passport and Covid Vaccine card so they could get us a EU card. Returned all to us in about an hour. That’s why they had us make copies of each.

Well, we just passed our covid return tests, so cleared to return tomorrow after 6 nights in Switzerland, 3 each Zurich and Lucerne. As mentioned earlier, no issues encountered.
