That's just a taste of why most State fans are sick of him. He's the Anti-Les Miles.

Wake up Cowbell!!! The Moo State nation thought Croom ruled the earth after the winning season and bowl win last year. Didn't have much talent on that team, nor does he this year. He has cleaned up the Moo State program and will get things turned around in StarkPatch.

Yep, if his QB would have thrown an interception just before halftime, he would have been a hero just like Miles!

Do you clueless idiots acutally believe your own B.S?

Miss. St. isnt a program you just turnaround. You have to turnaround and around and around. It will take him time. Croom is old school but had success last year and just needs more consistency. he also needs better recruits. They just got M. Connor, they will probably get C. Bumphis. They just need to keep bringing in some talent to sustain there success. I think they will eventually be a consistent bowl game (6 wins) team but never a power in the west.

Why? Because he's the worst gameday coach in the SEC.

You people are going to bitch and complain yourself into an Orgeron like hire. The reason he did that before the half is what happened last year. Before the half he tried to go for something and we ended up taking it back for 7...and he said after the game he failed his team by letting the game get out of hand trying to be greedy.

He learned from that mistake and when you fire his butt and hire someone who has you at 2 wins a season again you'll wish you had him.

Last year is irrelevant to last night's game. Last year, Henig had already thrown 3 picks. This year the offense had just scored the prior possesion and we easily moved to the 40. Are you telling me Miles or Tubbs, given the same situation would've sat on the ball. Hell no. Miles and Tubbs are where they at because they have a feel for what their team is doing at any particular point in the game. Croom coaches every tight ball game like he's got a 21 point lead.

As far firing him, this is year 5. State fans have been more than patient - more patient than any other SEC save Vanderbilt (that should tell you something right there). What I find irritating as hell is the notion that because of our lack of football tradition we should put up with incompetency more than any other school.

Yes, Croom cleaned up the program, but he also did things that prelonged the misery -- installing a complicated, pro-style offense, running off potential depth because some players were older and not at the top of the depth chart, not recruiting a single decent QB, and making some of the stupidest game decisions I've ever witnessed.

It would take some kind of coach/recruiter to be able to win games on a consistent basis in StarkPatch, MS. Sherrill did it, but cheated doing so. Croom IS on the right track- he plays both AL and AU very well. Keep in mind, every odd numbered year this decade, we have played in the SECCG, and all of those seasons we beat both AL and AU in the same season. Croom has been playing those two teams fairly well, and it's just going to take some patience for everything to come together.

I hear you on that. That call against Auburn to go for a 4th and 15 when there was still about 4 minutes left when his defense was playing lights out was indeed one of the dumbest decisions I've seen in a while. And yes, MSU won't go far without a decent qb. I noticed that Hening is not on the roster any more. I thought he was a senior this year. I know he wasn't very good last year, but he did have experience (albeit bad). What happened to him?

Croom is a good coach. Maybe not a great one, but a good one who consistently fields a decently competitive SEC team.

Until MSU fundraising performs better they don't really deserve more. On the other hand, #30 or so in the land would give Southern boosters orgasms just thinking about it.

The only message Croom sent his players by not going for it was that he didn't have faith in them. The gambles Miles takes work because our players know that he thinks they can get the job done! I know what happened last year but he had nothing to lose and all the momentum going into the half. IMHO, firing him would be the worst thing State could do!

I'm sorry but $1.7mm/yr should buy us more 1 bowl game every 5 years.

A little education about the job Croom has done at State:

1. Croom has stated many times he controls the offense- and on his watch State is the only team in Division-1 football that has ranked below 100 in offense the last 5 years.

2. Jackie left him with 4 future NFL players on his roster, yet he lost to Maine and won only 9 games his 1st 3 years.

3. He preaches character and discipline, yet has had 3 times as many players arrested in 4 years as Jackie did in 13.

4. He is the worst game manager in all of the BCS conferences. In a close game at Georgia, he once went for 4th and 2 from the Georgia 42, then punted on 4th and 1 from the Georgia 30. Who punts from the opponents 30?

Not to mention the 4th and 15 against Auburn

5. After losing to Tulane, he blatantly told the fans to go to hell and he didnt care what they thought.

He is a joke of a coach. State fans have figured out that all of you say nice things about him because you guys want us to keep him. If you guys like him so much, why dont one of you hire him? He would make a great coach leading the LSU program wouldnt he?

As to our success, under Jackie we were the winningest SEC West team from 1996-2000. (And dont give me the cheating crap, 2 years of hounding by the NCAA and they found 2 violations. We werent doing anything that isnt done at every SEC school) State can be a very competitive team that goes to a bowl 3 out of every 5 years.

We deserve better and we will get there when this clown is fired.

You can hire him, but you can't fire him. Reason no. 1 Alabama didn't go there.

I thought it was smart. A turnover could have led to more points for LSU.

thats a fallacy...What is Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton going to do to us?

1. Hurt our recruiting?- We constantly rank 11th in the SEC in recruiting under him. How could it get any worse? Plus, a new coach coming in would inject some life

2. All we have to say in response to criticism is his record- he has lost 2/3 of his games. And it will be worse by season's end..who keeps a coach with that record? He loses 2 out of every 3 he coaches

3. Most of our students are in-state. And most cant afford out of state tuition. Jesses wont hurt enrollment I assure you.

There is nothing Jesse nor the media can do to make things worse. We lost to LaTech and we are 1-4. It doesnt get any worse than this

He did the exact same thing against UT at home last season. We had the ball at our 25 and over a minute left on the clock. We sat on the ball and UT took their timeouts, got the ball back and kicked a FG to end the half, taking a 17-14 lead. It's very bad clock management.

He knows his team better than we do. He did not want to wear out his team with less depth than LSU had. He did not want a mistake right before the half giving LSU a chance to score some spirit breaking points right before the half. He saw little chance of the team he was coaching making points with so little time.

I'm not sure that's what I would've done, but I do understand his logic.
It's 17-10 on the road, with a first time starting QB and an offense that has struggled with turning the ball over.
If you go for it and end up turning it over(considering LSU gets the ball first in the 2nd half), the games probably over.
Being on the road, most coaches will be a little more conservative(right or wrong).

That's a legitimate question and the answer is: No.

We just went through the same crap with Brady and the basketball program. Brady stayed 2 years longer than he should have. He always got the benefit of the doubt because he took the job when we were on probation. He had a few successful seasons but he ran the program into the dirt.
Sound familiar?
If you State fans think you can do better, go for it. All you have to do is write the check.
