Harvest or give them more time?

Wanted to get you baws thoughts on this. I've hunted most of my life but have always hunted at places that shoot anything and everything.
At a new private place with a small group and we want to start harvesting deer properly but we are not experts in aging deer in the field.
We have some on camera that we know are good to harvest but these 2 (first image and the deer looking straight on in the 2nd image) we are unsure if we should take them or give them another year or 2.
Don't pay attention to the time stamps. These are from this year.
It's not a fenced camp so they can move off the property but there are not many hunters around us to worry about someone else shooting them.
Thanks in advance

What is the groups goals 140", 150", 160"? Obviously both deer would benefit with another year, but I think they are nice bucks now, but I am not a horn hunter. I really only hunt bucks two weeks out of the season. The rest I enjoy the woods, and try to put a few in the freezer.

I would guess these are 3-4 year old deer. You give them another year or two and they could be absolute tanks!!

It depends on what you call properly. Shoot what makes y’all happy and don’t let people give you any shite for it. Let hunting be what you want it to be. Let it be fun.
I’m shooting that deer any day. That’d be more than enough fun for me.

We don't really have any goals but I think we all agree that we want to maximize their potential.
I've heard some say that 3.5 yr old 7 point should be taken out because they won't get bigger but have no idea if that's true.
The second one has a lot of mass and we are worried we are taking what could become a "monster" of a deer too early.

ANY meat hunter that sees either of these 2 deer are going to shoot them for their freezer.
There's a good chance neither of them could be around next year to harvest.

If you want to maximize, leave for 2 more years, possibly 3.
That's hard, and he'll be hard to kill most likely, but that's a nice 3 year old. Maybe 4, he may well add 20 inches in the next year if he's 3.

Would it make you happy to shoot him, would it get your aderline pumping if you saw him, if so shoot and be happy, if not let it pass, no shame either way
I would shoot
I would shoot

Depends on what you are trying to grow. If you are happy with them now take them, but I'm guessing that they jump a lot next year.
Here is an example of a 3 year progression on the same buck. 1st pic the date is wrong.
I haven't gotten a score yet but I know this year he was 20 5/8 wide.

I agree that deer is probably 3.5. Just depends on what ya'll are trying to do and your expectations that the deer makes it until next year, or will the neighbors smoke him as soon as he crosses the fence? I think if ya'lls intention is to manage the property for big deer, you have to try to let them walk another year. But damn that would be hard to watch that dude walk out and not pick up my bow or rifle!

As long as you don’t have many neighbors within 5 miles that’ll shoot them, let em walk. Otherwise, they’ll be shot on sight by someone with buck fever.
IMO I’d let them walk and hope they make it. It’s fun being able to watch that caliber of deer on a regular basis without the pressure to shoot.

Shoot the 7 pointer and let the other walk a year or 2.

Just depends on how much land you have. I have 130 acres so any buck I would be proud of will be shot I don’t have the luxury to assume a next year. That said I have seen some two years in a row but never 3 so I have a feeling most bucks don’t make it past 3-4yrs in my neck of the woods.

Decide on the goals of the club ASAP.

Man, I just couldn’t imagine being at a place and letting any buck over 3.5 years old walk. Y’all must be blessed with very low pressure around you. It’s very very hard to get mature bucks on their feet in front of you for us. Letting 3.5 and older deer walk when you actually see them would be a good way to never shoot a buck
That’s why it’s kinda impossible for strangers to answer these questions

We're up in the MS Delta and most everyone around us is primarily hunting ducks. From what we can tell, there isn't a ton of pressure on any side.
The place was bought for duck hunting but the deer have been surprisingly good so we are going to try to manage the bucks a bit better.
A biologist came out, did a study, and told us to take 3+ yr olds with 7 pts or less. But like I said, we (or maybe just me) don't know how to tell how old they are if they are in a field in front of me.

When in doubt, let it walk
