Hey, I'll tell you what. You can get a good look at a butcher's arse by sticking your head up there. But, wouldn't you rather to take his word for it?

Its all subjective...but social impact and relation to the story?

First, "here's looking at you kid" is not even a top 3 line in Casablanca.

1. We'll always have Paris.
2. Of all the gin joints, in all the towns, in all the world, she walks into mine.
3. Kiss me, as if it were the last time.

Casablanca has so many great lines the script was a masterpiece.

to me, that seems contradictory. Then you listed 3 lines, and none of them were

louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship
play it sam, or
the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world

on that we can agree

Here's looking at you kid will always be the most famous line in my mind from the film, but, like you say, it's subjective

Anything from The Wizard of Oz is going to be hard to beat in terms of fame because it's 1) a great movie 2) timeless and 3) so damn many people have seen it and usually at a young age.

Poll everyone from 10-100 years old and ask them to associate the quotes "Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore" and "You can't handle the truth" with the correct movie and I bet Dorothy wins in a landslide.

IMO, The Wizard of Oz is the most iconic film in movie history.

Because it's not just a popular movie line.

It became English lexicon to convey a situation. It exists outside the movie and people instantly understand that phrase to mean you're in a different, foreign uncomfortable or strange place/situation of which you're not prepared for.

There's nothing more iconic than movie lines that become Dictionary meanings that aren't just movie lore. They become English idioms to convey exactly without saying exactly.

On a lesser extent, "we're gonna need a bigger boat' does the same thing.
