It’s horribly tragic, but it’s not even the worst single incident against US servicemen the last 50 years. The Marine barracks bombing in Beirut in 1983 killed almost 250 Marines.

I do find it a little odd that it was reported simultaneously by every Tom and hairy dick outlet, including every local news outfit in the country it seems, at the same time. That didn't even happen with the bombing.
