There's a world of difference between a person who needs to be hospitalized because of covid and a person getting tonsils removed who happens to have asymptomatic covid - especially when this is being used as evidence to support forced vaccinations.
Someone getting their tonsils removed would normally not be admitted to the hospital. But in the event they needed to be, and did have covid it would create the same incremental strain on the hospital. They would have to be admitted into a covid unit, requiring extra ppe for staff on that unit. The interactions take longer mean ing more nurses are needed for fewer patients.
This criticism makes sense when counting covid deaths, but for hospital admissions it is dumb.

So there are 17 people in my age group, at the general? I really want to panic, but still can't dumb myself down that much to do so.

if you end up in the hospital less than a week after your second dose of the shot, do they consider you unvaccinated?
What about if you've only received one dose? since 47% of Louisiana's population has received only 1 dose id be curious if these people are considered unvaxd if they end up hospitalized

Is 24 hr stay considered “hospitalized”? I’m assuming yes.

There’s lots of people who end up in our healthcare system because of poor choices. It’s almost what our healthcare system is built on.
I'll say the same thing I said to smokers with lung cancer and anyone else whose hospitalized by their own actions/lack of precaution.

Their answer to that question
“These are all COVID patients. Health conditions vary among our hospitalized patients. Some had underlying conditions though many had no health issues before this virus. “

I’m not sure if there’s a standard answer for that across the states. In some hospitals in Missouri, anyone visiting the hospital - ER or admit - was considered a hospitalization.

But no issues means they could still be fat beasts of nature. It's just no-one will go out and say that obesity is a condition.

Yes they are counting those as unvaccinated

It was more of an answer to his question of whether they were “Covid” patients
But yes everyone’s fear of “fat shaming” is ridiculous

they should track who is partially vaccinated as well, we deserve at least that much more data.
i understand not recording the people who "think" they had covid previously and didnt get tested to confirm it, but there would be definitive answer if someone has gotten a single dose or both doses
we need to do better recording data, especially when its easily verifiable

Looks like the vaccine isn't all that good for elderly. I haven't read others comments yet, but this is my fear for my parents. Mid 70s, dad has cancer, copd, high BP, and congestive heart failure. He won't fair well with the virus or the vaccine, but I wouldn't want to hurry him getting sick and dying from the jab

Well that would need to be broken down as admitted to ER, Admitted to Hospital from ER and Regular hospital admission. They have the numbers, as it’s obv documented, but we’d never see this. Or the % of hospital not being utilized.
ERs and EDs can keep yapping about being full, but if it was truly a disaster they’d have full staff and ppl waiting in hallways.
I’ve been to quite a few hospitals over the last 18 months and most have been ghost towns. Empty parking lots, 1 way entry, hospital speciality clinics closed, staff furloughed or laid off.
That is not a medical emergency and tired of these departments scaring people. It’s funny you call them and they won’t tell you, but then release the information anyways.

21.6% of the deaths in Louisiana share obesity as a comorbidity. Beaten out by hypertension, diabetes and cardiac disease.

Pretty sure they fall in the "not fully immunized" group...so yeah...unvaxed.

Prophylactic Role of Ivermectin in Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 Infection Among Healthcare Workers

The FDA-approved drug ivermectin inhibits the replication of SARS-CoV-2 in vitro

• Ivermectin is an inhibitor of the COVID-19 causative virus (SARS-CoV-2) in vitro.
• A single treatment able to effect ~5000-fold reduction in virus at 48 h in cell culture.
• Ivermectin is FDA-approved for parasitic infections, and therefore has a potential for repurposing.
• Ivermectin is widely available, due to its inclusion on the WHO model list of essential medicines.

Ivermectin is a promising Covid treatment and prophylaxis, but the agency is denigrating it.

Earlier this year the agency put out a special warning that “you should not use ivermectin to treat or prevent COVID-19.” The FDA’s statement included words and phrases such as “serious harm,” “hospitalized,” “dangerous,” “very dangerous,” “seizures,” “coma and even death” and “highly toxic.” Any reader would think the FDA was warning against poison pills. In fact, the drug is FDA-approved as a safe and effective antiparasitic.

Ivermectin fights 21 viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, the cause of Covid-19. A single dose reduced the viral load of SARS-CoV-2 in cells by 99.8% in 24 hours and 99.98% in 48 hours, according to a June 2020 study published in the journal Antiviral Research.
Wall Street Journal
Tell that to the patients and their families.

I disagree. Context is everything.
The implication is that the virus is at a level of severity that drives hospitalizations and deaths up. That data is being used to drive public policy like masking. Whether or not the patient with COVID required hospitalization for that specific condition or not is important context, especially with such a small sample size. Some hospitals were caught counting all Covid-presumed ER visits as "hospitalizations". This is a natural result of increased fear, and most of those patients are tested and released or sent home to quarantine. Context is everything.

It says "as of August third". That means from some unspecified starting point to August 3rd. Other hospitals are using the dates when vaccines first because available(jan) to date, so what else are we to assume when OP gives no link and no context?
