There's always been good bit of risk because we don't know who Viston's investors are but after 9 months Viston still hasn't waivered in their offer and with Petroteq management now fully onboard with the deal, things seem to be looking better than ever. The risk is still there, as it always is with OTC stocks, but evidence on the positive side has increased.

My guess is that it's a combination of people taking money out because they think they'll miss opportunities to buy other stocks cheaply while we wait and people who are concerned that CFIUS needing more time means that a moneyman behind the scenes at Viston is somebody who CFIUS could see as a national security risk - either Russian or Chinese.
There's no evidence for the latter one way or the other, and perhaps you could argue that Viston staying with the CFIUS process this long means they know there are not any national security dealbreakers but the origin of the money behind Viston is still a mystery.
It may be important to remember that CFIUS' general purpose is not to scuttle deals but to create plans with companies to wall off problematic investors and minimize risk of tech falling in foreign hands but Russian money behind the deal would obviously be another matter.
This is not a takeover bid by an established entity with a strong reputation, Viston is a new entity with essentially no reputation so there has always been skepticism around them.

This was the last update from viston:
"On July 7, 2022, Viston and the Offeror received a letter from the United States Department of the Treasury providing notice that CFIUS is undertaking an investigation of the Transactions pursuant to Section 721(b)(2) of the DPA and that the investigation would be completed no later than August 22, 2022.
Viston and the Offeror currently intend to extend the Offer to a date after August 22, 2022 in order to allow additional time for the satisfaction of all of the conditions to the Offer. Viston and the Offeror are currently evaluating the timing of such an extension and expect to issue a further update once Viston and the Offeror have determined a new expiry date for the Offer, if any."
The clearance could occur before 8/22/22 according to that language.

These people are contacting the people listed on the documents in like Switzerland or whatever to figure out if it’s real and I can’t even get somebody to ask the dude they went to high school with that works at standard lithium if it’s fake or not

So far I've talked Petroteq's CFO, the management company that handles their office lease, the insurance company in Dusseldorf, Viston's Canadian representatives many times and a Turkish dentist in London. lol.
As a veteran of OTC craziness, I try to do as much research as possible and it's never dull.

I sold a little last week to buy something else but I still have a good bit of money in it. I hate to give it the thumbs up or down because there's so much risk and I don't want to influence anybody to make a decision with their money based on my opinion. That's why I posted above about risk after I said I felt confident.
I'm hoping to follow up with some people next week so I'll post updated thoughts about that here if I learn anything interesting or if I say frick it and get out.
There's just so much stuff that's been thrown out there on Discord/Stocktwits/Reddit that it's tough to try to follow up as much as possible and hopefully confirm things or get answers to new questions and the speed of info flying around has accelerated in the last week.
