Because not everyone is a shameless Politard who has to make EVERYTHING political and thinks muh liberals are out to get them.
You don't have to be a politard to recognize that BR has a major violent and property crime issue that gets worse by the day.

Do you honestly believe folks who make the kind of money college coaches are paid, worry about crime in the areas they live?
Well, I guess no one will be moving to Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans or New York “for the money.”

You can say that for most any big city.
No. No you can't.
I'm not really addressing the topic at hand I was just making an observation about shity cities.
Mediocre, run-of-the-mill medium to large cities such as Omaha, Oklahoma City, Orlando, Etc usually don't have some phenomenal place just outside because there's nothing to drive the good people out of those cities. Those cities are just good enough for people to remain that are from there.
Baton Rouge just got bad relatively recently, mostly after Katrina, so now you're starting to see that juxtaposition develop with the Saint George movement.
When New Orleans really started to get bad in the 70s and 80s is when you really saw the movement to Saint Tammany Parish pick up. St Tammany was extremely small in population at the time. New Orleans at the time was driving out many of the decent, intelligent and wealthy people. So st. Tammany ended up with a higher concentration of those groups than your typical run-of-the-mill Louisiana city/parish like Shreveport or Lafayette. I've noticed that this phenomenon repeats itself in most cities that turn sour. They always develop an area just outside that's well above average in desirable attributes. And yes, that can also manifest itself as a neighborhood within the city but it typically develops in a neighboring jurisdiction such as a nearby municipality, unincorporated area or a parish in whole.

I have lived in Baton Rouge for years. Great people, great churches, great restaurants, beautiful neighborhoods, great shopping, many great schools (magnet and private). 70805 is a crime mess but that happens when you have congregations of poor people. And violent crime is up nationally not just in BR and Knoxville.
The city of BR is not keeping anyone who makes good money from moving here.

Knoxville's crime rate is barely below Baton Rouge. Nashville is a good bit higher than Baton Rouge.
Corbin to LSU?
Corbin to LSU?

This is one of the dumbest fricking threads I’ve ever seen

Why would a young up and coming coach want to live in a city that has a huge crime problem and a mayor that does nothing? Places like Oxford and Knoxville are so much better to raise a family. Mulkey and O are here because it is home.
You haven't been to Knoxville lately have you?

It's not a coincidence LSU has to pay insane prices for coaches to come here or get one of your own in Orgeron so the short answer is yes.

Parts of the University area and mid-city/Garden district, South and Southeastern Baton Rouge are fine for raising a family.
Where is USC located? Where is Tulane located? Where is Florida State located? tOSU? UH? UW? Memphis? Louisville?
GaTech?, South Car? Notre Dame?

Again, I didn't say it wasn't. I'm not arguing the topic in the OP. I was making a totally separate observation that I thought would be relevant to some of the side conversations that were taking place in the thread.
Let me reiterate, I don't think the current state of the city of Baton Rouge has any bearing whatsoever on whether or not Tony vitello chooses to coach at LSU. Does the man even have a wife and kids? Baton Rouge isn't Des Moines. A single, young, good-looking guy like TV can have a lot of fun in what is still mostly a college town like Baton Rouge.

I don't know if you've noticed but the crime has been increasing in those areas. Nowhere is a "good" spot to raise a family in BR. You're always a corner from being stabbed or robbed by the neighboring slums.
If you haven't noticed whatever "good" areas you have in BR crime eventually overtakes those areas and at the very least is shrinking them.

Right because 2 million dollars a year won’t get you in a safe neighborhood. Hopefully this is the dumbest thing I read all day

Bump from out of state... Applying for a position with athletics and I'm looking at apartments and cheaper houses to rent. In general, it seems like south and southeast of campus are fairly safe, right? My monthly rent budget is less than 1.4k, so a little less than Johnson or Orgeron. Could anyone fill me in on some these areas? Thanks in advance!
Elias 141 Napoleon Street
Riverhouse Apartments 101 River House Place (south of Old Capitol)
North 3rd Street
Nicholson Drive in Arlington
SW Garden District
Brightside Drive Harwich
W McKinley Street just north of campus
Or would a house rental in Addis be a safer option? Bird Heights Avenue

A young coach can afford a BR private school and there are some really good ones.
