According to a new article on ESPN.com that ranks the "50 best teams not to win a title." As I was scrolling through the list I expected to see 2011 LSU as a top 5 team but they didn't even make the list. I am not even a huge 2011 team guy. Our offense was miserable most of the season but our defense and special teams were absolutely special and more than made up for it until the national championship.

50. 1983 Auburn
49. 1993 Auburn
48. 1970 Dartmouth
47. 1951 Michigan State
46. 2009 Florida

43-42. 2004 Auburn and 2004 Utah
41. 1971 Alabama
40-39. 1960 Ole Miss and 1962 Ole Miss
38. 1982 Nebraska
37-36. 1987 Florida State and 1992 Florida State
35. 1940 Boston College
34. 1973 Penn State
33. 1949 Army
32. 1980 Pitt
31-30. 1945 Alabama and 1946 Georgia
29. 1946 Army
28-27. 1972 Oklahoma and 1973 Oklahoma
26-25. 1969 Penn State and 1968 Penn State
24. 1951 Maryland

If memory serves, in 2011 we beat the following teams:
Big East champ at their stadium
Pac 10 champ on a neutral field
The SECE champ in their home state
The NC at their stadium
We went undefeated in the SEC

That 2011 team was a great team stocked with top nfl talent

ETA: that 1969 team we had was pretty good too.

LSU scored 40+ points 8 times in the regular season and also in the SECCG. They scored in the 30s 2 times. They scored less than 10 2 times (both games against Alabama).

Well that's retarded. Our resume that year was fricking amazing. Consider the source.

This is not true. It wasn’t great by any stretch but it was good and far from miserable outside of the two Bama games and the first half against Georgia. It was the perfect compliment to the great defense and special teams. They ran the ball with efficiency, rarely turned it over, and were nearly perfect in the redzone.

That performance on in the dome was worthy of tarnishing that team's legacy. It was that bad.

Well, I mean we crossed the 50 yard line once in the title game.

Had we been competitive, we would have been in the top 5 easily.

1969 is not on it either. But look who is on it - 1959 Ole Miss at #2. Billy Cannon cost them that title.

2019 Ohio State on that list is absurd. They finished 3rd and lost in the semi final to Clemson, who was also undefeated until they lost the Championship to LSU. If that Ohio State team is one of the best not to win a title, then that same Clemson team should be ranked ahead of them. That Clemson team isn’t in the list.

The 1970 Dartmouth team finished 9-0 in the Ivy League of course and Number 14 in the Coaches Poll! LOL!
It's obvious that the 2011 LSU Team is a Top 5 team to never win the title. I would actually put them at number 2 behind the 2001 Miami Hurricanes.

Yeah I was shocked when ESPN didn't list the 2011 tigers.. especially the way the game of the century was hyped up and LSU won it... And as was mentioned earlier LSU really steamrolled some teams that year

60% of the teams are teams pre-1980. Also Ohio State 2019? LOL. Garbage list is garbage.

Technically, the 2011 team DID win a National Championship (if we're using Alabama rules)

Matt Hinton (then of Yahoo! Sports) voted LSU #1 even after The Game That We Shall Not Speak Of.

2019 Clemson was pretty good. 2007 Missouri and West Virginia we’re both number one entering the final 2 weeks of the season

That 2011 team would wreck almost every team on that list. People forget we did beat that same Bama team we lost to in the title at T town.
