I never knew this. Maybe it can be my excuse too.

I'm on Lotrel, btw.

Food heals. Many people check into to keto diets and get off drugs, eliminate chronic stress and pain and never have to suffer. Below are good resources for information.

This is no joke and nothing to play around with. You need to start making some health changes now before it continues to climb. Diet/exercise are key instead of just popping a pill.

Basically do the exact opposite of what most Louisianans do and you will live longer

If you stop voting for Morons, it’ll make you live longer?

Who knew?

I am seeking help on correct diet from a nutritionist to see if I can control this without meds. Be following a plan shortly.
It's absolutely possible assuming you don't have genetic issues or some other underlining cause. At one point I was on lisinopril, metoprolol, and metformin for hypertension and diabetes. I had to discontinue my meds three weeks into changing my diet. I think about it like this: I took BP meds for 15 years and dealt with various side effects as I tried different meds and the best I ever did was "control" my hypertension. If I stopped taking the meds by BP would start to rise. Just eating real actual food cured it in three weeks. I wish I'd realized the incredible importance of the quality of fuel you're putting into your body before I had to learn the hard way but it's absolutely worth your time.

*oh yeah, i also quit drinking

This is good advice. Last May my BP got so high a blood vessel in my brain burst and fricked me up pretty bad. Luckily I've been able to recover for the most part and returned to work in January but I'll probably never be completely the same and will be at an elevated risk for another stroke the rest of my life.

Like she said, it's no joke

Retaining fluid

Is the last thing your Dr wants if you have HBP, this makes it worse son.

They usually give people a fluid pill to prevent this

I have pre HTN and take a fluid pill to keep my ankles from swelling, I sit at a computer 9 hours a day. Somedays I will piss 20-30 times

That was the very first one I tried and my sides were mild but it only lowered my BP a few points

YMMV

How old are you? I'm fortunate. Though I do have some health issues at 59 I've been a 110/70 guy all my life.

Take the medication and do what is necessary. With high BP you are much more at risk of a stroke. My brother has high BP and had a stroke at 56. Fortunately it was minor but it still messed him up for a bit.

hmm interesting, I thought a diuretic only produced "extra" urine to help keep salt levels lower...

I had to stop taking the diuretic HCT because I was pissing so much my sodium level had dropped way below normal.
Then I was told to do something that you hardly ever hear at a Dr’s office. . .
Increase so sodium intake! It was a glorious month, now it’s back to nornal.

My ARB-II has a little HCT (25mg) in it and I had this issue for a while. Figured out that I was taking it in the morning while still under the effect of my morning coffee. The HCT and caffeine (which is also a diuretic) were ganging up on my bladder. When I switched to taking the HCT later in the day when the caffeine was gone/lower the extra pissing went away.

Quickest study I was able to find not behind a paywall.

Effects of Aerobic Versus Resistance Training on Blood Pressure in Hypertensive Patients'

From a cardiopulmonary standpoint, aerobic exercise is superior to resistance training in multiple ways. Arguing otherwise verges on being silly.
