I've grown to hate when people call me. Phone calls should be reserved for emergencies or scheduled in advance as a calendar event.

Texting is more akin to talking than email usually is.

Absolutely not ! Face to face conversation when you can look at each other is meaningful. BS is a lot easier in text. Can be convenient at times, but no substitute for conversation.

It’s like comparing Coca Cola and Pepsi ... both colas but one is more superior

Talking and texting are both conversations but one is superior

Both texting and talking are ok as long as you’re wearing your mask.

If I’m doing either at home - I’m not wearing a mask.

My best friend and I text exclusively, I can’t remember the last time we actually talked on the phone. Many years.

I always courtesy text or message to make sure it is a good time. I hate when people call me at work and I’m 5 minutes away from finishing a complex task that I’m zoned in on.

You’re so weird about the mask thing.

Rewearing a filthy mask makes no sense, Mr. Allen.

Texting is nowhere close to actual human interaction. It often fails to deliver on intent which leaves people guessing, it is incapable of delivering voice inflection, facial expressions, and true human warmth that comes with a phone call or better yet, face to face human interactions, and is a poor substitute in general for developing or maintaining relationships. Furthermore, the more we rely upon texting, the more we struggle in real human interactions, and the communication skills that actually do build and maintain relationships.

I think it’s become a lazy man’s approach, and except for a quick text here and there to let people know where you are, or you’re on your way, or picking up stuff at the grocery or whatever, it is in no means meant to be a replacement for face to face, or even hearing someone’s voice on the other end of a phone.

If distance prevents me from being there, I’d much prefer FaceTime than anything else in communicating with people.
