Anyone have any brands they recommend for long term storage/freezer storage of food?

Doesn’t need to be anything fancy, just something reliable.

Thanks.

Ive had both commercial LEM sealers and the cheap walmart food saver ones. I started an LLC making sausage about 8 years ago and bought one of each. After making sausage all those years and sealing up other types of game, the original food saver has outlasted them all. Thats all I got

You can get cheaper vac bags online FWIW.

I bought a Food Saver from Costco last spring and a couple boxes of the bags and rolls of storage bag material.

I've probably put up a couple hundred pounds of meat since then in the form of homemade sausages, beef and pork steaks, etc. and have had no issues with it. You just have to make sure you have a large enough bag made if using the rolled material to make getting a good final vacuum and seal to hold.

As, I've posted on here before. We just use good double seal bags, close the seals almost completely, the put the bag in a pan of cold water up to the zipper. The water squeezes the air out, then you close the zipper completely and put some tape over the seal to triple seal it. We don't freeze meat very long though, we cycle through it.

I’ve had a Food Saver for over 5 years. I use it at least weekly and more when I make sausage or go grocery shopping for meat. It has been great.

Pro tip, when your kids open a bag of chips and just throw them in the pantry, cut the ragged end off with the Food Saver blade and seal that shite back up.
