One of my favorite candidates for LSU this offseason
Recent stops
*OC at Okie State
*PGC at Ohio State in 2019
*OC at Texas in 2020
Spread/RPO type of philosophy with downfield shots

Who would run RPO in our offense? Max is a pretty middling looking athlete for the RPO. He can run it but he won't be great at it. Finley is a giant plodding log out there no way he could run it.
Don't mind the hire btw.

Dude you don’t have to be a running QB to run an RPO. It’s a read, not an offense
Posted on 1/2/21 at 11:03 am to deuce985
RPO is a run pass option, you're thinking the read option. They're different.
Posted on 1/2/21 at 11:03 am to deuce985
Yeah let's not hire any OC that won't base their offense around TJ Finley's mobility
Posted on 1/2/21 at 11:03 am to Fus0623
No you don’t. RPO & Zone Read are two different things

Max is fine running the rpo.
Like another poster said you can always hand it off. It's just the qb watching the lb or safety to see if they bite or not.

You morons still don’t get it.
Run = hand off to the running back
Pass = pull the ball and throw it
Option = qb makes the read to do either of the above. There is no qb run in the RPO, unless you count the one time Burrow had a run/pass option on a qb draw late in the game vs Bama last year.

RPO isn’t the read option. Geez folks.

A LOT of people in here get it lumped up with the basic zone Read scheme, it’s crazy

Correct, but the basis of the RPO is to draw the LB up to account for an extra man. If the QB can take off that makes the sell 1000x easier!

RPO has nothing to do with the QB running it.

Yurcich is a dang good coach. I wanted him to be the OC at Georgia. Would be an excellent hire.

If the LB is drawn up, then the QB throws it.

Was about to ask this. I remember he was a name many wanted last oc hire.

One day everyone will finally understand you don’t need a running QB to run the RPO offense but apparently today is not that day.

He won't be here anyways.
