Why the hell can’t I shake this fever

Been having since Monday. Peaked at 102.5. Pretty much non existent during the day but come on in the evening. I’ve had a rapid test, flu test and PCR test all negative. 2021 starting off shitty. If I still have by Sunday what would be your next step, blood work? And no other symptoms.

I came here expecting to see jungle fever.

Fevers generally get higher at night. You'll be fine in a day or two.

Just a fever at night? Any sweating?

Too bad. That's a really shitty radio station.

I had the exact same thing for 3 weeks. Just now getting over it. Spiking fevers throughout the day, headaches and chills, crazy sweats when the fever broke. Tested negative for flu and Covid several times. Finally tested positive for strep. It took them a while to test for that because I had no sore throat at all. Anyway, it sucked. Took 3 weeks to get over it. Ask them to test for strep.

Did you get the rapid test right when you got sick? I woke up at like 2 am feeling like dog shite and went to the clinic by my house to get checked out, get a prescription for some good cough syrup, and get a rapid test as soon as they opened. Fever of 102.6F at the clinic. Negative. A week later, I STILL was running fever over 102F and called my PCP and he had me come into their urgent care clinic and ordered the full blown PCR test as well as having the clinic doc check me out. I tested positive for a disease that surely had a 0.02% chance of killing me.
The way I understood what my doctor explained to me was that if you show up right when you first have symptoms, there might not be enough virus hanging around in your nose yet for the rapid test to amplify enough to definitely get a positive; even though you're sick, it sometimes takes a day or two for the virus to replicate enough where they swab to really make the rapid test hit. On the other hand, the full blown PCR test that gets sent off and takes a day or two to come back is much more likely to show up positive in the very early stages but it takes a day or two to get results, by which time you're much more likely to hit on the rapid test.
Early on, the rapid test is much more likely to give false negatives and both tests get more accurate as you get sicker was my takeaway.
Or, you might not have Covid. My doctor covered all kinds of bases. I got Covid, flu, something called respiratory syncytial virus, and strep tests. If there was an orifice in my head, the doctor stuck a q-tip WAY too far inside it. If there was something you can test for with a q-tip from the neck up, I think he ordered it. I'm keeping my eye on him next time I see him and if he reaches for a q-tip, we might have to have a long talk about boundaries.
I know you weren't, but I survived if you were wondering. I had 12 consecutive days where I measured a fever over 102, so I feel your pain. Drink something even if you don't think you need to. Pedialyte and miso soup were my go-tos. I kept one giant insulated tumbler with iced down Pedialyte and one with hot miso soup around me at all times and just sipped back and forth all day long.

Congrats you caught the regular flu. Not the wuhan kind. Just the plain red white and blue flu. No attention for you. Just take a couple aspirin and drink bleach and die. Thanks to smooth things over

Rapid and PCR you are talking about Covid right?
Not various Flu swabs? The flu got its as whipped in the viral Thunderdome this year. So far.
Sleep, fluids, vitamin C, D, Zinc, Tylenol and Motrin for fever and chills. Eat when you can, but force yourself to drink fluids.

Get checked for Hodgkins disease. Advanced stages present with night sweats/fevers

Fever since Monday? When is the last time you spoke with your doctor? You need to contact them.
