You could also try reaching out to the BR Bar Association, or looking around their website. I believe they have a referral system of some sort set up.

Well.. did you blow the whistle on your company or someone at your company? Were you bringing to light potentially illegal activity that resulted in your termination? It’s a yes or no question. Was Frank in accounting skimming funds and you brought it to light or did you rat out Suzy the secretary for taking a couple bags of coffee home? If you can’t explain those details concisely you’re not going to get anywhere with this.

Are under a protected class like disabled or formerly incarcerated?

If yes, I have recs.

If no, you probably don't have a case worth taking.

Let me guess, you worked with idiots and they let you go.

If he can pay the retainer and legal fees upfront, why wouldn’t an attorney take his case?

If your employer has a bad reputation in the local area, a history of misconduct, it’s easier to get representation.

Most aren’t paying that. The good cases are taken in commission. 37.5% trial, 34% settled or something like that.

Think I paid $500 up front.
$5K if it goes to trial for experts etc.

Company: "this happened"

Me: "yeah, I let the State know so they could fix it"

Company: "it is our opinion that per the handbook, you overstepped your authority and we are releasing you"

assuming this is not a big payoff case...

visit a local chamber event if you can find one, or at least go by the office

ask for the name of a young and hungry attorney that is looking to make a name for himself, try to get several names if you can, and pick up every lawyer's card they have

good luck

Wrongful Termination Lawyer by Blizzard of Chizz
If you are in Louisiana, you’re in a right to work state. You can be fired for any reason or no reason at all

Hey dummy, get your terms right before you give legal advice. “Right to work” deals with union contracts and their prohibitions. Louisiana is an “At Will” state meaning you can be fired “at will” for no reason, unless based on a protected class.

To the OP, if you’ve been turned down by at least 3 lawyers, you probably don’t have a case. These are hard cases to prove and so lawyers are very particular on the scenario they will take.

I get that, but I've not even explained my case to anyone..Based on the recs here, I think I started too high on the food chain and now have a better idea.

So you told on the company and turned around and told on yourself?

I've seen that before and it never seems to end in the employee's favor.
