Fired "per handbook, etc...There is no handbook, and what I did isn't illegal." In my mind its a simple case, that would easily be settled out of court

Another thing working against you is I believe LA is an 'At Will' state, meaning an employer can terminate you for any reason that doesn't violate federal law, like discrimination or harassment.
