It’s pretty crazy over in Pensacola/escambia county too. I spent all day helping cut up trees and haul rubbish to the curb. Our neighborhood has/had so many giant water oaks that had really outlived their life expectancy and were just waiting for an excuse to come down. People love big pretty old trees but at some point they are a true hazard and just need to go. I am lucky insofar as previous owner of home had all the older trees removed already.

Anyway downtown looks like crap and probably will be months to get all the businesses straightened out.

Skanska really hosed us letting all those barges get loose. The three mile bridge itself got hit by 7-8 of those things and reports say it may take months to reopen. One of the barges is sitting in bayview park and another managed to make it all the way across the bay to hit the bridge into the main gate at NAS. What a shitshow

My bad post must not have went through, he’s correct in water in y’all but no leak mark on celing in that hallway.

Go on the other side by tennis courts On third floor and it’s BAD leaks in celling and lots of water in hall. I did also see two AC units on the ground.

Glad they didn’t escape.

I know you’re still in shock. But, it could have been a lot worse. Y’all are going to be ok. I got married over there. I love Fairhope. One day, I’m gonna move there forever. God bless you and your folks.

Be glad a tree wasn’t on the house.

You’ve got a lot to be thankful for, judging from that video you posted.

And, nobody is hurt. Y’all will emerge. For the most part, better. It didn’t kill you. You’ll end up stronger.

Well. That was not fun.

Of all the major hurricanes I’ve been through in Louisiana, Sally was the worst.

I’m impressed with how quickly they got the roads cleared up in most areas. My family put together a care package and my cousins’ delivered it today on their way to Lillian to check on their parents and property. So we have plenty of food, water, batteries and spaghetti-o’s.

The amount of damage is just crazy. I’m going to try to get out to Seminole tomorrow to the barn where my horses are. They have fencing down and trees down. My little brother is coming in this weekend to help us clean up.

Luckily our house has no damage. We got a new roof in Feb and it held up like a champ. Our fence is down and we have an “open concept” backyard now with two other neighbors. We also had our trees trimmed this summer and I think that’s the only reason they are standing.

Walking the dogs last night in our neighborhood, I mentioned to my husband how it sounded like tailgating with all the generators. Tonight we grilled our steaks that thawed so it kinda was a tailgate. Just not the kind we wanted

I'm not surprised. I know the region well and all the trees. Get em in saturated soil + that big TS windfield Sally brought.

Did y'all actually get hurricane sustained in your part of Baldwin? Kind of academic though because I know what you got was plenty to bring down a bunch of trees.

<1 mile from downtown fairhope checking in

Trees and limbs down everywhere, we escaped major house damage from what I can tell - haven’t gotten on the roof yet. Bad cell service before storm has turned into absolutely unusable cell service. Had to force my phone back to 3G just to load a webpage.

All in all, we were lucky. There are tons of trees and power lines down everywhere. They’re saying a week or two until power for us, at best. Will be looking for a generator tomorrow.

We're you there for Ivan by chance? If so, how does it compare?

Good luck on the generator hunt and find some AC with friends when power comes back on. Figure it's probably progressing faster across the Bay, except for Springhill and Mcgregor area with all the trees around there.

I lived in Biloxi for Ivan. Don’t remember it being anything particularly bad, but we did get a tornado through a neighbors back yard

Oh yes I would say certainly. The way some trees are snapped and twisted is easily 100+ mph. I would not be shocked to see higher.

Ivan also absolutely wrecked Baldwin county. But the way this one sat over us and dumped historic rains made all the trees fall down. Tons of trees down in Ivan too but mostly from wind alone.
