Like it was yesterday! What a great game that was

I was there. I was just a little guy with my Pops but I can remember a lot about that game. It was one of those classic 70s defensive battles and TS was fever pitch.

What I distinctly remember was in the fourth quarter the light stanchion at the edge of the field and student body seating being pulled back and forth and swaying dangerously. I thought it was going to come down and kill someone. It was a great night to be a Tiger!

Talk about 3 yards and a cloud of dust... yep me and my pops were there.

String music. We felt like we won in all the excitement

I think it was Juan Roca who kicked the field goals.

I went to this game. Early in the season if I remember correctly.

I was there. Opening game of the season. We should’ve won.

I was there. A 14 year old kid . Nebraska had I. M . Hipp at running back . At halftime I went to get a coke and there were numerous Nebraska fans dressed in all red , extremely pissed that they weren’t beating the spread .
I also remember an LSU linebacker named Rusty Domingue stabbed someone in a bar after the game . Watching the highlights , he was in on every play .

Juan Roca was gone by 76. I think the kid who kicked in 76 was Mike Conway.

Was there low on the east side sitting next to some Nebraska people (nice as hell). The two teams went at it as hard as anything I’ve ever seen—just like LSU-Bama in 2011 in Tuscaloosa. When Domingue blocked the field goal at the end to preserve the tie it felt like the end of the earthquake game. He said later he was so pumped on speed he doesn’t remember Coach’s pregame talk. Stabbed a guy at a bar after the game.

Some context. We opened at Nebraska in '75 and lost 7-10. '75 was Cholly Mac's worst year.
Nebraska was a powerhouse then and preseason #1. They had won natty's in '70 and '71. Their QB (Vince Ferragamo) had transferred over from California which gave them a big passing threat. They also had a couple of all-American DTs (Fultz and ?).
Huge opportunity for us to regain some respect. And we almost pulled off the upset but Conway just missed about a 40 yr FG near the very end.
Magical night in TS and one of the underrated all-time atmospheres. Remember exiting the SEZ Upper Deck over the visitors' locker room and we were all yelling Tiger Bait!

Opening game 1976? Nebraska was number one till they came here.
I was at the game, one of LSU's best young players got into some fight or so after the game and was sent home, Rusty Domingue I think was his name.

I should have read your post earlier, he stabbed someone, I couldn't remember exactly what he did. I think Vince Ferragamo was the QB on that team he was drafted by the Rams in 1977 draft (4th round) and led them to the Superbowl vs. the Steelers in the 1979 season after Pat Haden, yes the guy who did not want Coach O to be HC at USC got hurt early in the season.
