Not looking good for Laffy. Might have to pack up the family.

I'm 15-20 miles south of Lafayette and won't leave unless I guess "maybe" a 2 but 3 for sure. 1 I'm staying put. Funny thing is my plan would be to evacuate to my sons in Lafayette -- guess I need to ask him if he cares!

approx when will we know the trajectory around Cuba? tonight?

By morning it should be clear but at this point I'm thinking basically entering at the western tip of Cuba. Cuba has decent radar so we'll be able to see the progress on pretty clearly.

is Laura pretty set?

It's pretty set at this point. Little details on track will matter a lot of you're in Lake Charles/Beaumont/Port Arthur region.

Laura will track west if it goes south of Cuba.

Tracks south of Cuba.

Shifts east.

So you’re saying Lafayette or Baton Rouge has never been hit hard by a hurricane?

Watch the TropicalTidbits link posted above.

Levi's description of the possibility of a rainless, almost cloudless center of circulation for Marco as wind shear pushes the clouds and rain northeast into Mississippi and Alabama while the dry center of circulation parallels the Louisiana coastline headed west is fascinating.

Yes but it keeps pushing further south. Makes a westward push on the border seem reasonable and also potentially stronger at landfall.
