Got a quote for $500 to install a hitch on my 2019 F150. Anybody had any better quotes in the BR area?
Anyone ever installed one themselves? TIA

I installed one on my wife's CRV when we made the move back from California. I ordered a Curt from Amazon. There's plenty of YouTube videos. Took 30 minutes tops.
I'm amazed your truck didn't come with one already installed.

Installed one on my wife’s Acura MDX and one on a Yukon I had.
Wasn’t hard. A little awkward on the MDX trying to get it in position because one of the mufflers needed to be dropped but not hard.
Your truck will be pre-drilled. Just match the holes. 30 mins at the most.

Hardest part is holding it up while you start the first couple of bolts. An extra set of hands makes it much easier. I had to awkwardly hold it up using my knee to help balance it in place.

If you got a truck without a tow hitch then it likely doesn't have the towing package which comes prewired for trailer wiring, trans cooler, an up-sized alternator and some other options depending on the manufacturer.
Trailer harnesses for late model trucks come with a module built in to help prevent damaged to today's truck's complex electrical systems and they're expensive. That's likely 33% or more of the cost of the quote you got.
Of course you could always self install the hitch and then just tap the wires of a generic trailer harness into your tail/brake/signal lights but you take a major chance of damaging something electrical on the truck.
To get to my point, $500 doesn't seem like a bad quote for peace of mind that it's done right.
