TulaneLSU's Top 10 dishes no longer available

Friends,
Our less cultured friends of the OT asked the question of what is your favorite discontinued food item? It's an excellent question we should all consider. While most of the responses from our friends there consisted of fast food items from Taco Bell or Pizza Hut or prepackaged junk filled with preservatives, the heart of the question gave me pause to consider some of the finest foods I have eaten, miss, and can no longer get. Sure there's an element of nostalgia for some of these items, but they also were all top dishes that I am sure would still be considered great today. If any of you would like to make such a list, I for one would love read them. I tried to limit the offerings to southeast Louisiana.
TulaneLSU's Top 10 dishes no longer available:
10. Cheese pizza, M's Fine and Mellow Cafe, Baton Rouge
9. Seafood stuffed artichoke, Carmine's, Bucktown
8. Fried whole flounder, Brunings, East End
7. Kolb's Schnitzel, Kolb's, New Orleans
6. Tasting of chocolate, Stella!, New Orleans
5. Shrimp poorboy, Uglesich's, New Orleans
4. Grilled porchini mushrooms over foie gras with black truffles, Stella!, New Orleans
3. Framboises a l'Anglaise, Chalet Brandt, Baton Rouge
2. Crabmeat raviolli, La Riviera, Metairie
1. Dover sole, Crozier's, Metairie

TulaneLSU

Orange Julius, I loved them things.

In a college Speech class a student gave a speech on how to make an orange Julius. It was from scratch from an employee that worked at a location. I wrote down the recipe and made it at home and it was Fantastic! However I lost the recipe and the one's online is not the same.

Manuel's tamales should be number one or the crabmeat ravioli at la Riviera

Friend,
Mother never allowed me to eat Manuel's Hot Tamales. At least not from a roadside vendor. I did try some from a grocery's frozen section about ten years ago and did not like them that much. Crazy Johnnie's is a good one.

TulaneLSU

Dearest Friend,
Although still readily available, now that’s she’s up in age, your Mothers snapper is not what it once was.

Friend,
Manuel's had a building a block from Jesuit High School on a stretch of Carrolton widely call The Avenue of Champions, due primarily to the high school's esteemed reputation. However, since Manuel's is the champion of New Orleans hot tamales, I will assert that they were rightly placed on the stretch of prized real estate in the Mid City neighborhood.

Not sure how anything in this statement can be debated. Highly accurate .
