Generally priests aren’t involved in the destruction and arson of public and private property the night before, so no they wouldn’t. good one

Sounds like they were aiding the rioters. What gets me, is with you being a communist and all, why you seem to have a problem with authority telling people what to do?

That is arguably one of the most iconic churches in America. I'm glad they went to extreme lengths to protect it. I'm also glad their actions to do so triggered you.

Aligning himself with people trying to burn down a church that presidents dating back to Madison went to. He is absolutely deranged, it's quite sad.

Taking politics out of this which I know can be difficult in 2020. Why would the bishop be so appalled by this? Can someone provide an objective and unbiased opinion on this?

All that reads as if there is no pandemic going on whatsoever. Im starting to not feel sorry for these people. Youve brought violence and destruction with the protest and it doesnt matter now if people are peaceful because someone can just start going off any minute if there was no presence.

Because Episcopals around here are extremely liberal, usually theologically but seemingly always culturally.

I’ve seen some dumb questions here, but this ones a doozy.

Gee, I wonder why a bishop of a diocese would be upset that staff at one of her churches got tear gassed to clear them off the church grounds so someone could take some pictures.

Does the church typically block people from taking a photo outside of the church?

A lot of people aren’t happy with how the feds pushed back the protesters to allow the president to have a photo op in front of the church. The city had a 7pm curfew and had made it known that it would be strictly enforced. City and Feds were in the same page to let the protesting go till 7 then start breaking it up. At 630 the feds and national guard in Lafayette park went over the barriers to push everyone off of H st. The footage of them clearing the street isn’t great. You see a news cameraman take a pretty good shot from a riot shield and his female reporter gets a nightstick to the back of the head. Before the president walked out to the church no one really understood why the police got so aggressive with the protesters because there wasn’t any rioting at the time and 2 blocks behind them were hundreds of city police.

It's encouraging that he took the time to go to church and pray for peace.

i lost a $70 kershaw knife because Joe Biden decided to randomly appeared at an NCAA tournament for a photo op and secret service decide to start frisking people.

i am more bothered by that than the D.C. police and Secret Service pushing out protestors for something they don't really give a shite about.

They sound more upset about photos than rioters burning it.

Amazing and predictable.

I know. It's why I started the thread because I knew what the responses would be. I think most deep down see the problem with it, but are too chicken shite to say so on this board lest they be branded a liberal or progressive for dare speaking out against Dear Leader.

We'd be at least 20 pages had Obama pulled a stunt like this.
