And on top of that they are destroying minor league baseball which had an overall attendance increase

Really worried about baseball will be a long road back unlike nfl and nba

Killing minor leagues is so stupid imo, they could be using the minors as a testing ground right now while paying players

They better get something done pretty quickly in order to start early July because they need some sort of preseason training.

Was it like

Owners: Prorate your salaries
Players: OK
Owners: Thanks. Now also we're splitting revenue so that'll impact salaries too

or

Players: We'll prorate
Owners: Yeah but we may be eating a shite sandwich even with that, so it has to be tied to revenue

Would seemingly make a big difference

I'd be curious to know the real proposal with everything as we hear the players agreed to prorated salaries and the owners also agreed to that and then changed to include revenue..... Because Snell's comments were worse than prorated as he wanted more than a prorated salary

Player's Union is way too strong. Needs some losses to tame that beast.
I hope it doesn't kill the sport.

Am i supposed to take pro-rating salaries as a player's concession? I mean...it should be a given that a pandemic closes stadiums...you dont get paid. Now if they get to play...but not in front of fans owners are on the hook for full salary (per weekly paycheck) with all the expenses of running a club but with out any of the revenue of tix, concession ....program sponsors.

Yea it’s a bad look for both owners and players and stupid on both parts. You have a chance to come back and add fans that you normally wouldn’t get, instead over some likely rounding error in the grand scheme of things you are going to lose fans instead of gain them.

Wouldn't be surprised. They need to make some kind of announcement soon if they are going to play

It'll take some time to get everyone warmed back up ready to play

no. but after the owners met with the MLBPA in march and both sides agree to prorated salaries, why should the players accept less?

LMAO. if anything kills the sport here its because of the owners and the current iteration of the MLBPA might be the weakest of the three major sports

This is so MLB. At a time where they could have 100% of the eyeballs, they’re going to just not play. They can’t stop shooting themselves in the foot. It’s dying with young people and they’re not doing anything to remedy that

No it isn't. MLBPA is in as bad of position as NFLPA has been.

They both had their years of power, and because of stupidity at the top, lost it.

Yeah, Snell's comments definitely don't look good for the players.
Dude is an idiot and clearly has no business trying to negotiate financial terms. He sounded like such a dumbass on his twitch.

Baseball is going to miss a HUGE opportunity if they can't figure this out. Especially, considering it's easier for them to start up under certain "safety" guidelines compared to basketball or football.

But then you have states like NY CA IL MI WA etc (10 teams right there) have stated that there are no fans in attendance ...well then it's time to re re negotiate.

Until its official, things like this article are just for lobbying the general public. They can still strike a deal
