How bout bars and other types of entertainment venues? Are they open?

Bars and breweries are still closed from what I can tell

A lot of businesses in Atlanta are voluntarily staying closed (although some of those restaurants were doing very close to normal revenue on take out only, so they can).

massively overblown. Just becuase the governor eased up some restrictions doesn't mean it's normal like pre-virus. Just about every business I've seen that has the option (restaurants, salons, etc) have still elected to either stay closed or barely dip their toe in the water.

I live in Atlanta and took my in-laws to Athens this weekend before coming back home. In Athens and Atlanta combined, I think I saw maybe 3 or 4 restaurants total that were offering dine-in services, and that of course was with heavy restrictions.

Yep. The impact has been overblown by both "sides." Reopening isn't going to do a whole lot for the economy, and it's also not going to do much to change COVID-19 infection rates, because most people are still going to be restricting their behavior.

2. It's only just been two weeks, if cases are going to rise it should only just he starting, deaths would have another ~2 week delay after that.

This is where I am after talking to several friends in a few different states. Seems most people are taking a wait and see approach, both business owners and consumers. There are certainly people that are going to get right back out and do their shopping. Some Karen was on my NextDoor app last complaining that only a few stores at a local mall were open yesterday, the first day of the relaxed restrictions.

There are a vast number of people on both sides of the aisle who are blaming everything but the actual virus for the problems we are facing.

Because the virus was never a problem. Government and public reaction to the virus was/is.

GA population: 10.6M
Cases: 34.6K (.3% of population)
Hospitalizations: 6130
Deaths: 1461 (.013% of population)

Take out poultry processing plants, the very old and funeral homes in South GA, it would be free of Covid.

You're saying a virus that was just discovered in late 2019, and in just 6-7 months has spread to nearly every corner of the globe, and has no known cure or vaccine, was never the problem?

Yeah, I wonder why the pubic might freak out about the above.

It's horrible here, People eating out again. People slowly getting back together for gatherings.

It's beyond time we open this back up! There was NEVER a reason to shut down a whole country because of something that effects .0012% of the population.

In Alabama, the DPH is not releasing the % of Alabama deaths who were nursing home patients. But just from news reports I can tell that well over 10% of the deaths come from just two nursing facilities: a veterans home in Alexander City and a nursing home in Mobile County. No telling how many other nursing home deaths there are. Fundamentally, this is a problem for nursing homes and people with multiple co-morbidities.

That's exactly how it works you idiot. 0.02% of the population of this country has died from this disease. Spin it all you want, but those are the facts.
