These “officials” have access to intelligence reports potentially containing SIGINT but if a US Citizen is in the transcript their identity is masked unless said official requests them to be unmasked and their identity known (they have to justify this)
There is a vetting process for each unmasking request.

just an FYI...it is not illegal to unmask individuals. it is very illegal to leak that information.

good question. i don't know. considering everything involved in this is based on illegally obtained FISA warrants...it all could be illegal. that's going down a rabbit hole.

Unless someone (?) makes him aware.
And then someone (?) makes the media aware.

If it’s Rice and Obama clearly knew the contents of the Kisliyak call (per the Jan 5 Oval meeting)then Rice was briefing Obama on the campaign/transition communications which hits at the heart of the matter that Obama was directing this

People are on record about the unmasking, this may prove they're lying.
If they lied and/or acted illegally, then they could face serious federal charges.
Will they be the fall guy or will they flip on higher level Obama Administration officials?

The reason she unmasked is because the Obama administration felt misled by the United Arab Emirates, which had failed to mention that Zayed was coming to the United States. They wanted to know exactly what he was up to. That’s when they realized Zayed was being used as a back channel by the incoming Trump Administration. It’s totally understandable as several Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee have admitted.
